Recommended HAS kit installers in Chicago SW suburbs

Planning to purchase the KW HAS kit for my G80, but am looking for recommendations on shops around Chicagoland (specifically the SW suburbs if possible) that specialize in this sort of thing. Not willing to take a chance on a shop that doesn't do this sort of thing on a daily basis. Thanks in advance!

AFA Performance in downers grove. Check out their Instagram and you'll see that they have a lot of experience with these things.

I would look further into the KW HAS kit before pulling the trigger. if you look at pictures that people post, you will notice the rear is pretty low at the highest setting which defeats the purpose of it being height adjustable. may not be an issue for you - but I had it and returned it because it didn't make any sense. IMO the AST springs are a nicer drop.

I have contacted the following shops in IL: German Auto Werks, Avant Speed, Ultima Race Works. expect between $800-1100 for the install.

Thanks BigMo. I appreciate the info. I'll add them to my list.

So far I've contacted Olsen Motorsports in Downers Grove, Chicago Performance & Tuning in Melrose Park and Performance Eurowerks in Elk Grove Village. Currently leaning towards Performance Eurowerks.

Hmm, good info MMM.PWR. I'm conflicted - as I really hate how much gap there is in the front, but am not too offended by the stock gap in the rear. I've heard of people doing a front only spring kit, but doesn't seem recommended.

The other kit I was considering was the MSS HAS kit. Any thoughts on that one?

For the AST springs, do those retain the ability of the stock EDC?

MMM.PWR - thanks again for your input. I was able to cancel my order just placed this morning on the KW HAS and proceed with researching threads and info on the AST springs...seems like these are the ideal drop F&R...plus the much lower cost is great. Will be placing an order today!

Cool glad I could help. AST should keep all functionality. It turns out that there is now a spacer kit that is added to the rear KW springs to raise them and provide true functional adjustability. But imo the AST springs are the perfect drop until a street coilover is available.

I’m going to install my front lip and spacers and see how I like the car. If I can comfortably clear driveways etc I’ll get the AST springs. Let me know who you decide to go with for installation and I would love to check out your car once you do sometime.

Sounds good. I should have the AST springs and my new Active Autowerke Midpipe (straight X-pipe), plus a VSC-2 valve controller installed within next 30 days

To bring this thread back- for those that have lowered, how is your experience with Chicago winters and roads? I'm on the fence on doing this. I really want to lower the front but worried as this is my daily driver

I am fortunate to have an older TSX as my daily driver, so I don't have to worry about driving my M3 around in the snow/ice...but I still have to deal with the crappy roads, potholes, etc.

That said, IMO, nothing should stop you from lowering your G8x - it does so much for the overall look and closes the ridiculous gap left by the factory.

I have the (revised) AST springs and they are perfect f/r, nicely closing the gap without being slammed.

Depends how low you want to go. I'm dropped 20MM in the front/rear and haven't had any issues... but then again I don't drive my car in the snow.
