Low rpm grumble normal?
Backstory: had put on midpipe deleting secondary cat and first resonator. Since then, have heard what I can only describe as a purring/grumble/groan at low rpm when accelerating (don’t know how else to explain it lol). Assumed it was part of the increased sound.
Today, I installed the valve controllers and they sound amazing but now that sound at low rpm is about 10 times worse with valves fully open and is making the car vibrate and is driving me nuts. I’ll link a clip down below. Is this the ASD? Others have this issue with midpipe with or without valve controller? https://youtube.com/shorts/p2DPqWyYy...er0U1phYXyGqY8 Vs https://youtube.com/shorts/sWUnk1nM7...i66XjSRZE4L7t2 Last edited by 2022m3x; 12-12-2023 at 01:13 AM.. |

I've turned off ASD so I'm not sure, you can try that if you like, but it seems to be around the 1700-2000RPM range which is prime RPM range for drone. Especially with the valves 100% open, you're bound to get a slight amount of drone with a midpipe swap, which is actually what it sounds like. I have the same on my AA Single midpipe. I'll get a slight amount of drone at 1700-2000rpm if I have the valves completely open.
This is primarily the reason why the valves don't open all the way, to reduce that drone. |

Gotcha, must be drone then. Makes sense considering it’s gone at sport plus where rpm stays above that usually. Just haven’t experienced drone I guess.. or at least this bad haha.
I’ll just open them 100% in sport plus |
