Dim Ambient Lighting?

Can anyone confirm whether or not the ambient lighting is dimmer in the refreshed interior (w/ curved screen)? Some would refer to it as the LCI interior even though the LCI models haven't been released yet.

If this is the case, is there an option in Bimmercode to increase brightness or is it only for coding custom colors?

Interested in knowing this as well. It seems too dim.

Don't have my car yet, but according to the manual the brightness is adjustable AND there is an additional setting for "Reduced for Night Drive". Have you played with those settings?

The ambient lighting is traditionally linked with the cluster brightness, which, to some, isn't ideal and will dim your ambient if you dim your cluster. I'm not sure how that works with the updated screens, but in iDrive7, you can make the ambient lighting control in the iDrive independent of the cluster with bimmercode.

I can dim the switches independently of the ambient lighting and one does not affect the other. What I have found is that the ambient lighting is very dim, even at night and at max brightness.

Interesting…I find that the ambient lighting can be too bright at night when it’s set anything beyond level 3.

That's my concern. Is your car a 22 or 23?

Don't have mine yet either so I was wanting to get an idea of what to expect. I'm a fan of ambient lighting so dim lighting would be rather disappointing. I noticed in pictures of interiors with the curved screen the lighting didn't seem as bright as earlier g80s, even with their settings visibly set to maximum in iDrive.

I would not base ANYTHING lighting related on pictures. Or color for that matter. Phone cameras make massive corrections to make pictures look brighter and sharper, including a lot of faux-HDR. That's why it's really difficult to photograph color digitally unless you are going to post process with true white balance correcting using a standardized color card. I chuckle when people judge too finitely colors on the internet. Very difficult to capture what you are seeing IRL.

The new curved screen, while having a "black" background, is still throwing off way more ambient light than the older two screen setup, which is likely tricking the camera's exposure settings into dimming.
