Alpha-N Corner Splitters - Install Tips
Shout out to IND-Distribution for getting me a set of the Alpha-N front splitters to put on my G80 this weekend.
I wanted to share a few notes and tips from my driveway install. I'll fill this in with pictures as I put them together. First, the fit quality. Passenger's Side: 8/10 Driver's Side: 10/10 Weave is really nice and smooth. They came well packaged and padded. Pretty sweet little parts. For the install, here is what I suggest. First, the caveats. I'm a mid-life adult with some experience working on vehicles. My methods are the "lowest cursing per install" method, not the least number of steps. I tried several of the shorter methods during this process and they resulted in cursing. This is a 3 beer job. Maybe 4 if you're trying to get one side to fit when it doesn't quite. Tips: - Label everything you take off the car. No bonus bolts. - Place front on jack stands - Remove wheels - Remove nearly all of the fender liner fasteners. I left one in place on the back wall behind the hub, but that's it. This makes it really easy to see the screws you need to get out, and no fancy prying or knuckle bashing. - Remove the bumper. Trust me, this is the way. It's super easy. R44 video is fantastic. With the fender liner basically out, you can easily lay on the ground under the corner of the bumper and get the two 8mm screws out with no pain and no prying. - Finish beer 1 - Remove the liner from the inside of the bumper (also in the R44 video) - Once the liner is out, you can get the 8mm holding the corner out with zero stress. - You may need to pull harder than you expect to get the factory corners off. With the liner out, you can see exactly what direction to pull, and what direction to push the new ones in at. - Put the new ones on - Finish beer 2 - Put everything back together - Finish beer 3 |

Drivers side is perfect. The passenger side isn't. I know it's there because I did the work, but in passing it's hard to catch. I do think the OEM lip should fit better, and maybe it's worth more than double the cost. I was going for something a little more subtle.

they look nice, and I was on the waiting list for them, but seeing the passenger side fitment has me questioning that. It looks unacceptable to me. Especially since they're 1k for little corners. I was hoping to run these since my driveway is steeply angled and a front splitter would scrape, but these wouldn't. That passenger side fitment would drive me nuts.
EDIT: Alpha-N's promo Video for their parts does not show this gap. I'd push for a replacement piece |

8/10? More like 0/10. They don't fit on your passenger side.

Update on this. In short, IND-Distribution 100% stands behind everything they sell. 11/10 Will end up buying more things from them.
Alpha-n on the other hand do not. When asked for help, their reply was basically "we have some on our shop car and they fit perfect. Here's a product picture." It's as if they couldn't even fathom how a hand laid part could have a manufacturing tolerance issue. 0/10 will not recommend to anyone. |

Did you buy them from IND? Or Alpha N direct?

Just re read the original post! IND won’t help/replace the side that doesn’t fit perfectly?

Agreed, if you are going to get these definitely buy from IND...I tried dealing with Alpha directly and they were a pain in the ass to deal with, could be the language barrier or who knows, it certainly was not worth my time.

Hello
Unfortunately that's not entirely true. It's true that we couldn't explain why they didn't fit. And the first thing is that we ask customers to double check. Every company does that. Then I immediately informed IND that we should send a replacement and that IND should exchange it with the customer. Basically, IND is our main distributor for the USA. We forward all inquiries directly to IND and do not sell directly to end customers. I hope that you are now satisfied with the front splitters. |
