Excellent review.

High praise from experienced Porsche GT car drivers. Sounds like an AWD CSL in G80 form is as great in practice as it sounds on paper.

that was a great post.
selling my i8 roadster next week and awaiting the M3 competition x-Drive in a couple of months. back to full ICE and the noise.
Numbers close 3.4-3.5 sec vs CS
similar to the video will have the 7 month grandson in the back seat!

Thanks, this was a great job by these guys. Sounds like early feedback is could correct alot of the CSL issues and be more of the M5 CS Jr. that i want this car to be.

I'm concerned about the "harshness" of the shifting they referred to. There is 0 harshness in the M5 CS in Sport Plus + 3bar, just speed and smoothness and its amazing. Thats one of the biggest drawbacks of the CSL in my opinion.

Hey guyy! Griffin here. Thanks Emtoo for sharing this! Really appreciate that. And thanks all for the positive words. Wanted to mention we were thinking the same with the M4CSL, that maybe the reviews weren’t accurate or maybe this is a better sweet spot.

And per the M5CS, we have access to one and we will be doing a review shortly to determine their relationship. We’re thinking this is more track focused of course, but more curious about the steering comparison. As far as the shifts go, we didn’t mention but it has the adjustable shifting with the Drivelogic system but we didn’t care much to play with that since the other drive modes automatically set that. Also we were constantly short shifting under load because it’s in break in. That was the issue. No transmission loves that. Shifting under lower load or at higher rpm’s like you would want to is entirely different. Much faster and smoother. Also in comfort modes the auto shifting was smooth and ideal.

These cars just look so much better in black and black only.

Weird but cool at the same time.

You are appreciated -- My allocation is in transit. These are the details I'm looking for buying a car in this market climate.

I’ve owned an M5 CS now, M4 CSL (which I’ve sold) and M2 CS. Also driven and owned a bunch of Pcars and other great cars over the past few decades.

The M5 CS is far and away the best car I’ve ever driven and owned. I agree with what Chris Harris said yeateday, best street car ever made.

Great job with your review and video btw. Really well articulated thoughts, better than the influcners with millions of followers. This is how everyone should do this type of thing.

You really think they messed with the steering that much? Im ordering a M4CS and was expecting not much beyond a stiffer suspension and a few more ponies over my 21 g82 comp.

Thanks for sharing your initial impressions and putting in the effort to create a video. Many have been longing for some drive footage.

Given that you have gone down the path of digging into objective information (sharing the data on your full weight measurement was a nice touch), I think you should edit your video and tag information to include that the car is a MY24.

Cheers and enjoy the car.

Yea 3919 weight seems about right on with steels. C&D measured almost exact same weight of a Jahre car with ceramics, so ~40lbs of weight savings elsewhere makes sense.

Great video and glad someone measured camber too!

I was initially disappointed that I missed the cutoff to get my M3 CS configured in Signal Green with Black wheels, but the Black/Gold/Red looks fabulous. Wondering if that’s the default spec; that’s how mine is coming, too.

Top of the list for the M4 CS - hoping the config process is a better handled.

I may be in the Bay with the CSL this summer. Would you guys be open to trading test drives if you haven’t had a chance to do so by then?

Good to finally see a review. I’m still on the fence about taking my CS…this didn’t help in that regard.

Every time I see a post of you talking about the M5CS I go on a frenzy to find one and then come back to earth when I see they are still selling for more than MSRP in my area haha
