New spark plugs at 12K mile service?
Went in for what I thought was just an oil service and service guy says computer tells him car needs air filters and spark plugs as well (all covered under 3yr warranty). Didn't complain but I thought this was really odd. When I asked about it he gave me the old "All M3's require plugs every 12k miles". Ok buddy.
Anyone else come across this in their higher mileage service appointments? Any other surprises with even higher mileage? |

Some of bmw maintenance used to be based on oil changes. I believe at 1 point air filters were every 2nd oil change and spark plugs were every 3rd oil change. I honestly couldn’t tell you though. Did you change your oil once already or is the 12k your first oil change.

Yeah was def. unexpected. Car said it needed them so I am curious what the metrics are that the car uses to determine wear.
Manual says no plugs or air filter until 3 years or 30k miles. |

On a turbo car, I would replace spark plugs every 15K at the longest. Fresh plugs every year is what I normally do for turbo engines.
