Allocation wait times for 6MT

How long is everyone waiting for an allocation for a 6MT M3? My dealer said there's one person in front of me and he's been waiting 3 months.

Interested in this answer. I read several forums saying the M3 base had longer wait times for allocations yet my CA said his last M3 base customer waited 10 months from order to delivery and that the comp and comp xdrive were closer to 12-18 months if not more.
Just placed my deposit last week on the 6MT so I have a while before I can personally answer your question. I’m basically telling myself I’m getting an MY24 at this pace. Dealer said that the allocations started taking longer than it was in late 2022 which was concerning. I, however, will not budge on getting the 6MT. Absolute deal breaker.

One can get an allocation by walking into the dealership or can wait for a year and sadly, there is no generic answer to this question.

If you are a not in a hurry, you should place your name in several dealer waitlists and hope for the best. If you are in a hurry, then you might have to contact a broker who might be able to get you an allocation quick.

A M3 allocation can be configured as base, comp rwd or comp xdrive, so the timing wouldnt be much different with the variant.

Also below thread might give you an overall idea.

My understanding is some dealers are lazy and won't do that, so maintain 7 separate lists (3 each for G80/G82, one for G83) and just assign the next person in line for whatever specific configuration they happen to get an allocation for.

Most dealers should maintain one list per model, and swap the config of their allocations as they receive them to match the next person on the list.

When I was looking for an allocation, many dealers maintained separate waitlists for each variant due to their internal policy. Since each dealer is an independent entity, we cannot expect everyone to do the same.

The dealer I ordered from had separate lists for base/6MT and competition. The list was longer for competition.

I found 3 unsold currently shipping from Germany. Seems that people are ordering and then bailing. Unfortunately not the specs I'm looking for. They were all Brooklyn grey with carbon bucket seats. I really want skyscraper and regular seats (too hard to get out of the buckets for me).

How do you find these unsold, to be shipped, vehicles?

I was just speaking to the sales guys who mentioned they had them. Would have been super lucky if they were speced how I wanted.

I was lucky to get one with no ADM or deposit required. The longest wait is to get my individual color approved, like 1 month.

Sorry to hear, brother. have you tried hopping on other waitlists, maybe a bigger-volume dealer?

That sucks... although 6 months is about what I waited for my allocation so it's not totally unheard of.

I’m already being told to expect longer than that. Tbh I know I can go to a larger volume dealer on the coast, but it is with higher fees. I value attempting to start a relationship with a dealer closer but maybe I am old school, unfortunately. I’m also not sure if I trust ANY dealer anymore with all that I’ve gone through.
Hoping that you get your allocation soon. I heard there were ramp ups near end of year and then major slowdown in December/January and with everything else, it’s hard to even determine if they will remain at this level or get better or worse.

I’m filling my time with obsession over the build I’ve submitted and watching as many videos as possible to keep me as psyched as ever.

Though I’m about to start a drinking game with “worth the wait” as it seems an easy way to have a few on a weeknight….it BETTER be at this rate
