My car before the G82 was a 700 HP 2019 GT-R and this does not surprise me at all. Both of these cars feel the exact same at launch but the GT-R never feels like it starts slowing down, the damn things just keep feeling like they have infinite acceleration.
G82 is far and away and overall better car and I prefer it to live with but it's just not the same thing as the GT-R for pure speed. You don't own a GT-R because you like a nice interior, you own one because you want to smash the peddle and scare yourself. With that said I watched the Nissan live stream today of the 2024 GT-R unveil at the Tokyo Auto Salon and was extremely hopeful that they updated the interior (they did not). If they had, I was going to have to do some soul searching to see if I wanted to keep the G82 or not. |

Even though the GTR is the dream. The Lamborghini Countach on my bedroom wall, from 1985, I just couldn't do it. Im well happy with my G82, especially having every option you can click on, minus carbon buckets.

I had a 2012 GT-R (Black Edition). The cars are awesome... for a little while. Then you start noticing all the little clunks and noises the transmission makes. And the 350Z interior for the 100K+ price tag.
Obviously the aftermarket support is there (assuming you are willing to pay the GT-R tax for everything.... 3 to 4 thousand dollar intercoolers?). Man are they long in the tooth now. That video seems to downplay that the G80, that was down on power and heavier, trapped a faster quarter mile... which I find EXTREMELY interesting. Kudos to that GT-R. |

I sold my M4CxD and I'm now in the market for my next fix.
I have my name on the list for a '23 GTR Premium, but is not the color I want, so I'll probably pass. Currently dealers are selling at MSRP or $10k over. Which means, you'll be paying around $120k. This, compared to my M4, which cost me $95k, is hard to justify. But at the end of the day, is up to the individual spending the money and what he's looking for. I love the M4CxD and here are the main reasons why I got one: - Transmission (8 speed that feels very solid and responsive) - Interior - Technology - Refinement What I did not like: - Looks and sound (no matter what pipe; does not compare to the GTR) My GTR 2014 BE FBO/e85 Pros: - your pockets are the limit to the power you want (ecu is programmable & aftermarket is big) - SOUND/LOOKS: the attention you get is borderline uncomfortable - Easy to work with - Airstrip Attack reputation What I did not like: - clunky transmission - no rear passenger space - outdated interior - Nissan dealership support But like I said, at the end of the day, is what the buyer wants. I've scratched that M4 itch, and if I can get a GTR in the color I want with out a crazy mark up, I'll jump on it. Otherwise, you guys will have me back here with another M4CxD. But as of now, I'm having a hell of fun driving my 2 GLA 45 AMG around town

There is no doubt it sounds 110% better. My weakest hate for the G8x is it just sounds like shit to me. Doesn’t matter what you do to it. I don’t like the sound of any of the exhaust or downpipe options. The car just has a rattle that I hate.

Yeah, I'm having a tough time finding an exhaust combo that I like for the G8X platform. It looks like I'm going to end up going with a single mid-pipe set up.
However... I got over the GT-R "trombone" pretty fast due to the similarity in sound with the VQ35, VQ37, and VR30s in every Z car and Q50/60. Those are all over the place where I live. And now even 3rd gen F-150 Raptors sound the same...and those are a dime a dozen here in Texas (I myself have a gen 2). Quote:
I have seen GT-Rs with that kind of fade. Last edited by V1L3; 01-13-2023 at 01:42 PM.. |
