I've been looking at the TwistNFix v3.0 as it seems like an interesting system. Obviously it's compatible with the OEM grill, but I've been contemplating the Project Gamma or Vorsteiner ones. So I've been trying to find some good no-drill options myself for a euro plate so far haven't found much outside of the normal plate holder and double-sided tape though. If you find any other options be sure to post them!

I've never posted here but, since I just spent the past 4 months trying to find a mounting solution that would not require me to drill holes in the front end of the car I'll give you my thoughts. If you are like me, the thought of drilling holes in the front grill of your car pains you deeply. Especially if you know the front plates are only for a relatively short spell. In the 4 months of searching the only option without drilling was from Klettmax (https://www.gutschild.de/kennzeichen...hoCrekQAvD_BwE). This is basically a velcro solution. I ordered this one before taking delivery of my car last month. However, the design of the front end doesn't present enough flat surface area for this to work.
I then accepted I would need to drilling the front end and tried a solution from Bull-Performance in Schongau (). It seemed a good fit, with minimal fuss. Unfortunately that product is not ready for prime time. The BP Rep informed me that mounting method was interfering with sensors on the front end of the car. Today, after duly testing my luck for the past 3 weeks by driving through multiple police check points with my front plate either on the passenger seat or in the window, I went to BMW and purchased the German Plate Holder/Bracket (Kennzeichntraeger; BMW Part # 51118074796). I drilled the four painful holes into my grill and mounted the bracket. Since I still had the Klettmax velcro solution in the garage, used that to fix the plate to the carrier. It looks great and I no longer have to fidget with the plate on my lap in case I pass law enforcement. Be warned, it is BMW, so best to engage the dealership at delivery when they are feeling generous. That little piece of plastic and 4 screws will set you back 65 Euro. Good luck. Hopefully you don't labor over this problem as long as I did. |

I purchased this one below. I’ll post pics in a little while if I get a chance to snap some.

I ended up ordering the TwistNFix v3.0. Probably take a while to get here, but seemed like the most non-invasive solution.

I have yet to see the BMW Part number for OEM EU mounting. The plate breaks up the grill. Some like it, some don't.
BMW Part # 51118074796 Danke, M_inde !

I'm an F80 guy but was intrigued when I stumbled across this while visiting Hamburg, Germany. It's a very elegant solution if your Euro but not sure if it's TUV/stasi complaint.
That lip/splitter is worth noting too. |

Nice! Seems adapted from the Swiss plates which are much smaller (front version) than the German ones:
No big EU notification left of the number; No Swiss coat of arms on the left, no cantonal coat of arms on the right; No graphic elements. Cops can distinguish car's front from rear. Seriously, it looks so good, but how to convince the authorities of this solution? |
