iDrive Controller Non-touchpad

Hi everyone. I noticed that there's an option called "6UX iDrive Controller non-touchpad" on my M4C build. The estimated production date for my car is late March. I also noticed that my CF roof got replaced by "moonroof" by default. I am wondering if anyone has the same issue. Please let me know.

So there is a thread a few rows down stating that BMW is short of carbon fiber roofs. Also, the I drive controller is usually touch, due to shortages, they are replacing it with non touch pads.

What week is your build?

The top of the knob on the iDrive controller wheel has had touch inout for a little over half a decade now. It enabled you to draw letters and numbers for input, specifically for Maps, but other things as well.

The CF roof removal is new, but there is a very large and active thread on it, right at the top.

I am not sure about the week number. I just received my production number, and it is not reflected on the website yet. My SA told me that was an allocation for March. Do you think the iDrive controller can be upgraded later to a touch version?

Maybe, but it wouldn't be worth the cost, and it's a fairly useless feature. I wouldn't worry about it.

We built this together, and I am very sure that we did not choose the moonroof. My SA just deleted this option. I am hoping it comes with a CF roof.

It would be better to continue carbon roof discussion in the original thread. We have been having several duplicate threads in the recent past.

Here is the original discussion on that. It might need a HW and SW update.

For those of you also just got the production numbers, please let me know if you have experienced touchpad deletion and your thoughts. I personally use that feature occasionally on my X5 and would like to receive a "perfect" car this time as well.

I have the deletion. No big deal to me. I think the actual screen is touchscreen still but I could be wrong?

I'm a week 7 build at the moment and I have the iDrive non-touchpad listed

The actual screen is not affected by the issue. I am now just wondering if the knob can be upgraded in the future.

Just confirmed with my SA that I have a week 10 build. I am losing only the touchpad if there is no specific code for CF roof.

I'd choose to lose the touchpad AND touchscreen before losing the CF roof

March build for me and touch pad has been deleted too. Don’t really care about that and no moonroof showing up on my build.

I had a 2021 G80 that I got last March and it had the iDrive touch controller. I used it a few times mainly for inputting GPS addresses. It was a pain and sometimes didn't recognize the letter I was trying to mimic writing on the little knob. I mostly just used the onscreen touch keyboard as I found this to be a lot easier and faster to input any numbers or letters.

Is everyone just contacting their SA & asking for an updated sale sheet to see if anything has been changed. My sheet is from the date I confirmed the build Dec. 6th
