No, it does not. They (dealer/manufacturer) need to prove the mod you did is responsible for the issue. For example, adding an intake will not void your warranty for the infotainment system, they are unrelated. Look up Magnuson-Moss warranty act.

Grain of salt here but what I've been told..
Basically like iviegatron said .. they have to prove the mod you did is responsible but I have been told you can have an uphill battle at times and have to keep pushing for the fix to happen. |

I would still take it in for service. You're not submitting any warranty claims, just taking it in for service. |

Appreciate the inputs. The G80 sounds like shit, well shit maybe a strong word but definitely not worth 500hp

Can modifications by themselves void warranty? No.
But it depends on the mods and what the issue you have that needs warranty work. Your mid-pipe by itself isn't gonna make the motor blow, so they can't deny a motor because of a mid-pipe. Tuning the car will most certainly void the warranty for most things as it's gonna be very easy to prove adding over 100whp and 150wtq over the stock rated HP caused the failure in Motor, transmission, and other drivetrain components. If you don't wanna worry about it, don't tune the car. I dunno why people ask this, you accept the risk when modifying the car. |

as mentioned, no problem with warranty as long as your mod did not damage anything.

Generally speaking, intakes and midpipes/mufflers don't void warranty. Any tuning of the ECU / TCU, presence of piggy backs, removal of primary DPs (or other engine components with sensors), and alterations to drivetrain coding will void your warranty. BMW is pretty no-nonsense about it these days

I will always remove all my mods before bring the car to the dealer.
In this day you will need to prove that your mods have no responsability in any damage not the other way |

Of course there is always someone that's gone under the radar undetected - this doesn't speak for everyone. There is no universal answer for every case as there are all sorts of variables involved.

Its been my experience that most dealers will point at ANY mod that messes with emissions and say that caused whatever is broke to break. If you touch anything emissions, you are fighting an uphill battle on having anything engine wise fixed. Its a very easy out for them. Mag moss act or not.
As Tom said, your best bet is to see an independent. And if something does break, pay to play!
