Anyone Considered Flipping Their Cars
With the crazy money these cars are bringing these days I've been wondering if any of our buyers of new BMW's have considered selling?
I gotta admit it is tempting with the new xdrives and their desirability. |

Nope. Same reason I'm not thinking of flipping my house right now...the profit would be lost replacing it. One car, one house...couldn't just sell either one and sit on the money. Also 'cause I like my house. And my car.

I am contemplating it to get into an XDrive with CF bucket seats which would be about 10k over what I got my car for. (81k vs 91k)
Problem is trading it in even at what I first bought it for would still require another 10k cash. I'm not really interested in any other car except maybe a Porsche which would be even more expensive and out of the question.

I’ve only given it a passing thought.
Values are high but I need a car and trying to buy another one is pretty tough right now. If I sold this one, I wouldn’t buy another BMW (just don’t want the same thing again) The only sport sedan with a 6MT is unobtanium right now (BlackWing cars) So…nope. |

Wait, you started this thread posing this question as a hypothetical that you're considering, then followed up by mentioning you already did this months ago? Are you just trying to see if people are still doing this?

Checked just for the hell of it. Firm offer $5k over MSRP--to say nothing of what I paid. The guys you submit the vin to--"Give me the Vin." But, love the car and although I really like my '20 CR-V, not quite the same thing for cruising in. So as others have said, what can you get to replace it without waiting 6+ months?

My question was referring to folks who might want to flip their cars for profit. I flipped my car not for financial reasons but because the configuration of the car was not what I was satisfied with. My motive had nothing to do with flipping for $ profit. Now with that said, I still have the option to flip my new car for $ profit (don't have it yet) but that is a different story and I have no desire to do so at this time.

DO NOT DO IT!
I sold mine for 10k profit at the beginning of October. I told myself I would be not driving as much in the winter so I would make my 10g now pocket my monthly payment and order one in the spring... WRONG!!! I am not kidding you, as the car was being pulled out of my driveway by the buyer I felt a blanket of regret overcoming me. I immediately called around to dealerships and within 1 day I was on a waiting list. I finally got my allocation in but now I have to drive around my POS Honda and hate every second of it. I check the Bmw tracker 12 times a day like a mad man and dread the next few months because of the wait. Trust me, its not worth it. and to add. I got my car at a discount the first go and now had to pay MSRP. This time I got to spec it exactly the way I wanted it instead of buying one off the lot but the wait is still killing me. |

And even if you would, BMW FS no longer allows third party lease buyouts, so you might be subject to state sales tax, not to mention arranging short-term financing, by buying out the lease and reselling it to a third party yourself.

I still wouldn't, even if i'm able. I waited long enough for the car and i don't even have it yet. I want the car to drive it, not make profit. If i wanna make profit (or get back ALL of my money back), i'd sell my C7Z right now. I don't want to do that either. I love that car and i know i'll regret it once i sell it. Only way is to wait for the incoming new model to arrive at my house, then i decide. I know cars come and go. I know cars are a terrible investment. But i think the biggest investment in this hobby, is your happiness and love for it. Might as well enjoy these cars while you can, before EV fully takes over. |

I sold my base M3. I received down payment, all payments and 12% return on a lease that I drove for 6 months. Car was great but just wasn't in love. I've outgrown the M3 unfortunately. I'll be sticking with my X7 from now on. Just way more comfortable sitting in traffic anyway.

Not really, no. Other than a tiny auto sales tax, it's one of the advantages of living in Oregon, the land of constant dripping, not being able to pump your own gas, and not paying sales tax.
Seriously, and this is my second post on this thread, my car is the least sensible thing I own (unless you count our trio of cats as they are the least sensible things in the universe, and I'm pretty sure the "ownership" goes the other way). If I was concerned about the financial aspects of car ownership, I'd probably have a Corolla or something similarly sane...our cars are a less-than-logical purchase to begin with. |

You know, its refreshing to see ppl acknowledge the fact that an expensive car is a waste of money.
You should read the Subaru and Supra forums. Ppl are spending way more on cars than they should only to justify their purchase as necessary because of AWD or some other stupid feature that a car in a way lower price range can do. Do I need a 90k car? Hell no. Do I want it? Hell yes. |

So now we have a new build in a better area (middle ground between last one and current one ) getting done that we didn't have to pay X amount over. I mean the new builds themselves are going up in base price for every X amount of lots getting released every week or so, so when we got in we paid a certain amount (base) for this one and the current ones are going for 45k over - same house. Had we got in even earlier we could have probably saved an additional 45k as well when lots were just getting released (we probably got in about half way i'd say). But yea, i'm actually in the middle of trying to see If I can flip my RS5. It was just under 90k MSRP (I think $89,385) and I bought it for $86,500 at 2900 miles. Highest offer from just dealerships has been an Audi dealer for $85,100 with about 6k miles on the car which isn't bad, but i'm trying to see if I can get 90k or more for it. So I have it on consignment for a high end dar dealer place that will blast it everywhere nationwide, private forums ,etc. They anticipate this car being able to sell for around that much and will probably be an out of state buyer. We'll see. I have a 2022 M3 xDrive that just docked today at the port and will probably be another few weeks before I can take delivery (RAM stop sale) and the car is going up on this consignment place today so we'll see what kind of interest if gets in the next few weeks. Fingers crossed! I think I have several factors hopefully going for me: 1.) RS5 production is down to 35% (from it's usual 100% baseline) so even getting an allocation for a new one right now is very, very difficult, and you're looking at around 6+ months according to Audi themselves. 2.) Barely any new RS5s out there right now in the first place and they're going easily for 5 - 10k over MSRP. 3.) Can't get certain features in new RS5s due to chip shortages, etc and mine is fully specced out including hotspot and wireless charging. 4.) Mine is in a very attractive spec. Tango red with black interior w/ red crescendo stitching and in the black optic launch edition (of only which 130 were produced) which means not only does it have basically every single tech feature, sport exhaust, etc but also has the alcantera flat bottom steering wheel which they're not even making in new RS5s anymore. Can only get leather. Also it's the Sportback RS5 which are rarer too and far more practical. Hoping all these factors go in my favor and I can get 90k+ for it (currently has 6.2k miles). |

Enough of this M3 talk... anyone know of any lightly-used RS5's? Bonus if it's red on black with the alcantara wheel!

Even though it's slower, it's looking mighty nice now for me considering i can get one today and it's slightly cheaper. Going on 13-14 weeks now and no signs of the M3 coming.
