Question Lack of individual color option M3C AWD?

So, I got an allocation this morning. AWD M3C. I am asking for Voodoo Blue and my SA is telling me that his system is not showing ANY individual color options to choose from?
can anyone help me help him out? is there someone I can call at BMWNA to get more info? I am week 27 build but I would like to get this figure out ASAP.

To choose from where?

As far as I know, placing a custom color order (which is what Voodoo Blue would be) through Individual isn't a simple point-and-click ordering process. I believe you have to submit the color for approval.

Is the sales associate familiar with the process? Has he/she placed an Individual order before?

The ordering code is 490 (any special order color). There should be a way to specify the color

He has ordered individual colors before. Just talked to him again on the phone. system is not allowing him to choose the option at all for a special color. He said he is going to talk to a BMW rep today to see what is going on.

There is no system to enter an individual color. My process is contacting my area rep and asking if X color is available. He'll reply with yes and the price is $4500. Then submit a form requesting the color (with paint code) and pricing and signed. That's it.

Update: I was able to get my production order number in the tracking area. It says Portimao blue. so at least we know we have it it but it's wrong.

Is there someone at BMW genius I can call to help with this or customer relations?

Is it possible that since the VIR was put in a while ago before I got an allocation and that he had to pick a color option that the order was messed up some how?

You can't put a special color in until you get the allocation. On my initial VIR it just said Alpine White, and in the dealer notes it says "SOP - San Marino Blue". Once the allocation came in he submitted the special color request (I'm not sure of the exact process for that). Either way afterwards he showed me the Special Color Order Confirmation form. On the tracking website it says "special order color".

If this CA has ordered individual paint options before, not the options like Frozen Brilliant White, etc... they should be aware that they need to submit a form to request that your paint color of choice be approved by BMW. As was stated, choosing Voodoo Blue is not going to be an option in the system. This request/form can't be submitted until after your allocation is available.

I requested Marina Bay Blue and my current build shows Portimao. This is just how it works because you can't submit a build without a paint color to choose from and the Individual paints will not be an option in the system.

If they know how to submit a form/request to BMW, they should be able to take care of you without any issue. Once they get the request over to BMW, you can then continue to use the same production # to track the process. You can see a detailed explanation of the codes they use here:

Be aware Client Adviser's (and the Sales Managers they report to) often do anything to discourage individual orders.

There is a woman who's email i will send to you, she is the VIP Ordering Specialist for North America. Contact her (check your PM). Go around your CA if you do not think he is doing what needs to be done.

Thanks! I see your PM. I'm going to give him a day to figure it out but if it drags into Monday of next week I will contact the person you sent over.
He is normally pretty on top of things so I'm going to give him a little leeway to figure it out.

Question

Good news! I just got an email from my SA. He was able to find the BMW special order confirmation form and submitted it.

I see voodoo blue noted under the approved special order request information and it notes the WHSL (?) number as well as the MSRP.

the form is from 2019 but he said that was all he had available to him. It is correctly filled out with my production number and model description of M3 Competition AWD.

crossing fingers we have gotten to where we need to be. I will check the BMWUSA site Monday to see if anything on my online build changes to show "special order" details.

Anyone able to confirm that the form I mentioned sounds right?

Sounds correct. It may take some time for it to reflect in the system. It may 3-5 days before it shows up as a special order.
