Doesn't make sense to me either. I coded it off and the cabin is more peaceful. Doesn't seem louder at all. What exactly is louder?

It has a noise canceling effect on road noise.

Similar to noise canceling headphones the asd also supplies a supplemental frequency to isolate your ears into hearing engine noise rather that tire and wind.
Do you know this noise cancelling feature to be fact?

I was under the impression the ASD is designed to give you the sound of the engine through the speakers. I never heard of it cancelling out road or tire noise

No clue on how/why but, when I turned off ASD it felt as if there was more road noise and an overall more noisy cabin.

G8x CODING FOR ANTI DAZZLE HEADLIGHTS AS OF 11/20 SOFTWARE UPDATE

Under the BDC module in expert there are 4 groups called LaMaster 1 through 4. They will be identified by LA1, LA2, and LA3. New values are after the space on each line. Print it out, these take some searching and you will drop out of diagnostic mode sometimes switching in and out of the app.

LA1

C_BDC_PRE_ENA | 1
LUT_FLC_FORWARDLIGHTING_Y | AFS

LA2

C_AFS_ECO_LEVEL_3_ENA | 01
C_AFS_ENA | 01

LA3

LUT_AFS_CODRV_HOR | standard/init
LUT_AFS_FRV_HOR | F040_G005_AHL...
C_CLC_CURV_V2 | 23
C_CLC_CURV_V3 | 28
C_CLC_EXT_ENA | 01
C_HBA_DIM_ENA | 01
C_HBA_GFHBA_ENA_V_HI | 3C
C_HBA_GFHB_ENA | 01

There are 4 more codings in the lane assist camera "KAFAS04" which we cannot currently access with bimmercode. Supposedly these will make the auto dim less aggressive while also make the beams tighter. The HBA will still perform extremely well without these changes. These can be changed with Esys.
I HAVE NOT TESTED THIS AT ALL ON G8X. IF YOU HAVE ESYS, PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

C_FLA_COUNTRY_WITH_MULTIPLE_REFLECTORS | 01
C_FLA_US_SENSITIVITY_MODE | 00
C_FLA_BS_ENTER_THRESH | 03
C_FLA_BS_EXIT_THRESH | 02

Thank you to "juhcobywankenobi" on the G20 forum for posting a screenshot of the cheat codes for this.
Anyone else tried this yet? How easy is it for the not super advanced Bimmercode user?

Any chance you can double check this. I think there may have been some typos and I dont want to take a chance guessing.

Example: LUT_AFS_FRV_HOR | F040_G005_AHL. I dinde see this listed but I did see LUT_AFS_DRV_HOR | F040_G005_AHL

It's a pretty common feature in modern cars and I think it would be all tied together.

Active sound design is a pretty broad term.

But..

I have 0 written data to support my claim inside of our new cars.

Thank you! I got it to work today however, the high seems seem to have some some weird behavior. When I am in a heavily lighted area the highbeems seem like they can't make up their mind staying on or off. Its weird and doesnt happen all the time. Not sure if its normal behavior or if something is off.

Regardless, its a pretty impressive feature.

I think the Kafas coding fixes that but I have not tested it yet.

Yes Sir. This requires a esys cable and the coding software. Much more of a complicated process

FYI Tried my old OBD Link MX (Not the +) and it will not work. I use the unit on my F450 but the BMW will not link with it. Just an FYI if anyone is trying. Just ordered the CX as it was recommended by BimmerCode.

Same here. My old adaptor didn't work, but the CX works great.

There have been a bunch of people that could do remote esys programming over the internet. They weren't doing it on the F8x as it wasn't possible for the lights, but maybe they will be available for the G8x

Hey, I saw someone was able to change ambient lighting to red. I have the OBDlink CX (same program as them) and of course BimmerCode.

I see the ambient light option in the coding system to go to red (even yellow and magenta-red) but when I do it, it actually doesn't change in the car & it says successful.

Any insight?

Question for those who have done tweaking (like disabling auto start/stop): I noticed this modifies the DME according to Bimmercode. Does anyone know if this will show up in a scan at the dealership?

That can be done in the car, no code required

Ambient light color can be set through idrive. I don't remember where right now, but I set mine to green (matches car color) without much problem. It worked fine

I don't believe red is one of the options. I set mine to blue because of the BMW logo (same reason why I went with blue calipers)

I'd also like to do the opposite and stop the seat from going forward when I lean it forward. I flip it forward to put my work bag in the back seat, but when I flip it back and get it it's still a bunch forward and I end up having to cram myself into it until it finishes moving back.
