Shmee on the M4 MT, and he dislikes carbon bucket seats
Thought I'd share - Shmee @15:37 not very happy about that bump in the middle of the bucket seat constantly rubbing alongside the clutch-pressing leg. I'm sure BMW have tested the ergonomics extensively before launching such a daring design, but it looks like they could easily have shaved 1 inch off the width of that bump to mitigate the potential inconvenience and still maintain the unique design with the visible carbon piece... Haven't really heard others complaining but the consensus seems to be you better be lean to really enjoy these. Probably one of those options you may want to test before ordering anyway. As for the subsequent comment about a slight lack of torque down low on the non-Comp, bear in mind he is used to driving top supercars so take with a grain of salt |

I'm reserving my opinion in a real car or mine when I get it. He's the first person I see complaining about it.

the 'bump' is purely for style points. As such, not a great idea. Why take away leg movement??
Cripes, my racecar doesn't have that bump and it pulls over 1.6Gs.... The bump is silly. |

Another member turned his car in with them and bought one without them. The side bolster is what did him in. Its hard to get around and you hit it on the way in and out.

I pictured those side bolsters maybe being a little bit soft but they were like a rock trying to get over them. Not the least bit flexible, soft or comfortable

I'll be honest and mean no disrespect to anyone here but I saw so many members ordering them just for the looks its just comical.. Most of them probably have absolutely no experience with these kind of seats and just think they need the coolest looking stuff. I've said it before on the forum but unless you either track the car often (Wich I do) or you consciensly know what your getting into, don't even bother with the Carbon seats. They are at the same level of commitment as the Porsche buckets and No one orders there street Porsche with them. They are way more serious than the AMG cooled "buckets" and the Alfa ones.. And it's not like the regular seats are bad, they are very good !

They're cool. I bought them. I then drove with them. I liked it. The end.
It's an option. Let's not get too critical on either end.

That's why we have options for the car. Some options aren't for everyone.

Better seating position, better lateral stability, more comfortable than any aftermarket bucket I've personally sat in, and look beautiful to boot.
Standard seats are good too but there was no comparison for me between the cars I got to tryout. Buckets ftw Although cooling would have been nice. And having my nephews tickle me through the cutouts is a definite negative. |

I’m getting them - didn’t have a choice which makes things much easier. Part of the standard spec. Climbed in and out a few times in the dealership and it wasn’t terrible. The level of adjustment is surprising making them very comfortable. They also increase rear legroom

I am by no means a lean person but I feel like I could live with them in a second car that is not the daily driver. What „bothers“ me most is the limited room for leg movement due to the side bolsters. Will be a tough decision but I think I will get them.

I did check under the seats but it only looked like the carbon part could be removed but the small leather buldges stayed in place.
