This is my first m4 so I've never tried the ps4s but I've heard that people were worried the performance increase over the g82 and f82 was due majorly because of the p-zeros and want a comparison of both cars while they're running the same tires

ive spent 900 miles in mine grinding the break-in period and have been sending it into corners in a way I imagined was impossible on my previous 440 (not a comment on the ps4s but just an example of how great the p-zeros are)
General consensus is universally the opposite of this, but time will tell I guess

Were you actually racing for real or just attending a High Performance Driving Event ?

I suppose it's the latter but it's great to ear of someone doing exactly what the M3 is intended to do

Yeah there's lots of testing you can find that's conclusive that the mp4s is definitely the superior tire in the 280-300 tread wear category.

The actual filter housing is "welded" into the intake, but it looks like the engineers were planning on us removing them because you can very easily slide them out of their housing.

Worth the 10 mins I guess.

100% easier job than on the F8x cars. No brace removal necessary.
LB

I appreciate your initiative, which I followed-up on with a bit more info for those interested in pursuing.

Tools required

T25 hex and flathead screw driver

Strut brace removal not required (no torque wrench required)

Procedure

5 hex screws to remove on top of air filter housing unit (screws contained in housing, so no concerns about dropping into black hole at bottom of engine bay)

1 hose clamp screw to loosen (for disconnecting top of air filter housing from air inlet tube pipe)

Two charcoal filters contained in top of filter housing (slide out pretty easily)

Results

LB offered his impression; I will reserve further opinion to each individual to form on their own. . . although, I would not have performed on G80 if I did not appreciate an acoustic 'boost' when performed on my M2C.

Any chance you have a before/after video of the sound difference?

I removed the filters last night. It's such a minimal change in sound you wouldn't notice a difference in a video

Which group did you run with?

Looks like I might be spending my summer in the DMV and will need to figure out where to track.

GT

I concur 100%, as nobody should anticipate this will revolutionize their acoustic experience . . . and most certainly, there is nothing to be had by way of power gains.

What I do wish to add to that is my appreciation for some acoustic 'boost' - both in the M2C and M3C - only occurs when the engine is wrung out. Both running it to redline on the way up, and into high revs with aggressive down shifts. I appreciate no significant difference under 'non-spirited' driving conditions.

I am not a mechanic, but I know these turbos love air, possibly explaining the 'boost' I appreciate running it up redline??? I assume the engine 'sucks air' - or otherwise likes to move a lot of air - on aggressive downshifts as well?

Smarter forum members than myself can confirm or refute my impression as to how/when these vehicles 'breath,' and in attempt to explain the SUBTLE difference appreciated with the charcoal filters removed.

///AVM

P.S. Before anyone PMs or frankly states something in a post about wringing out my new vehicle . . . yes, I am one of those individuals who believes a new engine needs to be 'driven-in,' not broken-in.

The steering wheel in the G8X is the same as the X5/6M, M8, etc. correct? If so, has BMW come out with an alcantara wheel for those cars?

I paid for it today. Now I just need the actual car.

The finance guy was politely subtly upset that I turned down all of his offers.

Mine didn't even try to negotiate because even he knew how terribly priced these addons are.

Sorry if this is obvious but since I don't see it mentioned in the post - there is another set of charcoal filters on the passenger side intake which need to be removed in the same way.

HPDE 8 20 minute sessions, 2 of them in a good rain.... it was lead / follow... I have been to the 2 day M school and really learned to push the M car very very hard...

We never got more than 65% effort on VIR's full track. in the B group. I'll be going back in June..

Installed the BMS clutch stop. 5-minute install. Glad the access to the stock clutch stop is easily accessible and doesn't require any removal of panels or wiring as the website said. Included pics of the stock versus BMS clutch stop, as well as an installed pic:

I had told my CA that I was probably only keeping it until the LCI so finance guy didn't even try me on the extended coverage. He tried the $800 tire and wheel and we didn't even get to the price of the paint protection before I shot him down on it.

But wow, $5500 for a year???

I've been running it for a while. With all the spacers in, the engagement point comes on pretty much right away, but you're still well past it with the pedal to the floor. It doesn't leave a lot of room for sloppy clutch work, but it feels CORRECT.
