Getting so much attention on the road
So I'm driving on RT-17 in my G80 with my wife yesterday afternoon, just going home from church, cruising maybe 60-65 in the middle lane, and I see this blacked out E92 335i passing me and then slowing down, and right behind him is a white F10 535i (I think a friend) and both cars are just going at my speed, popping and crackling (which was super annoying) and all of a sudden, I see the passenger in the E92 rolling down the window and filming me with his phone - for like a good 2 minutes, and then they both pull away. While this is happening, my wife is just FREAKING OUT and wants to call the cops, which is when I stopped her saying "They must like the new M3!" She didn't understand this of course (since she has zero interest in cars) and she was shocked even more when I told her that I've been getting this kind of attention pretty much every time I drive the car (although this was the first time getting filmed) especially from other BMW drivers. Anyway just wanted to quickly share, wondering if others are experiencing this too. I don't mind people turning heads but I have to say getting filmed like that on the road was a bit annoying, especially with my wife in the car. Hopefully this will die down once more G80s/G82s start to appear on the road.

Sadly this is becoming more any more common with social media what it is and all... Basically half of the thumbs-ups and waves you may have gotten before are replaced by this nonsense. Luckily it was just a passenger doing it here.

That has happened to me a few times in NYC with my M3 CS.
With my Fire Orange M3 arriving in a few months I expect it to be a similar experience to yours.

Used to get this all the time in the GTR and quite a few lookers even with the F80.
Didn't mind it as long as they weren't swerving all over the place or doing anything that seemed totally unsafe...and hey, if it gave some kid extra motivation to work harder, all the better. |

lol. Similar experience, but next car was a X5, I think a teenager with his mom, he also recorded for about 30-40 sec, before I pulled way.

If chicks were staring and gesturing at me as I drove by, my assumption would not be that they were attracted to the guy with the hot car. I would guess they are thinking "Let's see if we can steal grandpa's nice car".

This happens to me a lot, more so in the G80 than in the F80. Not sure if it is the overall styling of the car or the color combination on my G80 stands out more than my F80.
My wife gets a kick out of it anytime she is riding with me but I've gotten used to it. Always happy to chat about the car with random strangers in parking lots or gas stations though.

Clearly you enjoy it more than being annoyed by it if you're making a post about it on a G8x forum. It's a brand new car not many people have seen in person yet so it'll draw some interest, not sure I'd go super out of my way to post about it--
I think if I saw a G8X M3 on the highway I'd chase it down to look at the grille in person - only seen an M4 so far.

Definitely gotten some thumbs up from fellow M3/4 drivers. (Apparently not everyone driving the previous models is a hater
I’ve been surprised that others have complimented the Brooklyn gray paint. I like the understated look but I guess it’s still unique enough to draw attention |

I was wondering how much people would notice this car. I wasn't sure if it was gonna be a head turner to people who aren't enthusiasts.
For example, i'd say that on 95% of my drives with the GR Supra, i've gotten waved at, stopped, pictures taken, etc. I've never had a car draw as much attention as that one does. Most of the time its 16-25ish crowd who wants me to rev or ask questions about the car. |
