$4,100 for AWD.. 🤕 Ouch..
I'm not going to get into a debate on whether AWD is a necessity or a luxury (it is), since its already been debated here ad nauseam but just say that from a business perspective, I totally understand why BMW now offers a AWD option on the G8X, their bread-and-butter model of the M line-up; it helps move units. Here's their take on the then-pending AWD option, on the upcoming F22 2 Series, way back in 2013: . |

I wonder if the xdrive modulates brakes even with everything off (DSC off, Traction Control off). As long as it's fun to drive then I guess that's all that matters. Can't wait for 4WD powerslides from Chris Harris
Also does this particular system sends extra power to outer rear wheel to help the car in corners? |

Considering the RWD weighed less than BMW claimed, this might be slightly lighter than the posted figures. So, if I lose 20 pounds, then that's only an 80 lb increase in weight, lowering the figures down even more. All I have to do is save that $4K markup by not eating solid food until it arrives in dealers, and I should be ready to put in an order for this thing.

Cool, I assume the order guide will be essentially the same as the RWD models and maybe the press release was just an omission? (they only list the black alloys as other available options)

The color of the M3........isn't it the skyscraper grey? It doesn't seem to be the frozen dark grey, it's too light to be it.

It's odd that RWD mode requires stability control to be off. It'd be cool if you could effectively turn it into the standard non-AWD model.
It's not like the M5 that was only developed in AWD form. They have all the electronics tuned for RWD with stability control on the G8X. |

Issue is the tune, as the Bosch ECU Mag1 has a factory installed special encryption chip to prevent tunes. It's going to be a while .....

As far as getting old, I'm not sure that's the issue. Again, it's a great electric car, is quick, has range, isn't overly expensive and the styling isn't offensive. It's just not the driving experience I've had with BMW - that goes for M cars and other BMW models that I've owned.
