Looking at all the undercarriage bracing, I am surprised it isn't heavier. It seems too much for a daily driver, but it is the only MT unless I wait for the 650hp Cadillac CT5-v this summer. I would choose a horse before a Cadillac

the underbody front and rear v-bracing looks promising, however structural rigidity isn't the problem - the f8x is plenty stiff.
I wish they would of done something different for the springs/shocks (bilstein damptonic?) and a next gen edc system (like PASM from porsche). And why not ride height adjustment from the factory? (maybe on the competition model) at the price they're asking there's no reason why they shouldn't evolve the springs/shocks combo. |

All this mambo jambo may sound cool but no actual data on how much of an improvement compared to an F80? What's actually new compared to previous gen?
Is the rear subframe still connected without bushings to the chassis? Under the hood bracing looks fussy compared to previous gen, how much % improvement in stiffness we're talking? |

Under the bonnet, I cannot believe they've replaced the beautiful CF piece with an ugly steel unit. That piece also no longer extends to the A-pillar. The bulkhead brace made of Al was retained and a steel strut brace between strut towers was added. Torsional rigidity of the F8x is not far away from the E46 M3 GTR as per Biermann's very educational M4 walkaround from 2014. And thanks for filming it vertically so I couldn't see as much!

Good stuff.
Re another posters comment above. There was great fanfare made of the F82 launching with CF Driveshaft CF Tailgate CF Engine Brace None present in this gen. I guess cost Vs benefit has to come into it but they were special parts. PS when I'm saying CF this maybe CFFP but you see my point perhaps.

At least the tailgate and engine brace will probably reappear in a CS or CSL model; maybe they learnt from the F8x generation not to shoot your arrows too early

Interested to see how the new springs / dampers will perform like. A weak point on the F8x platform which required upgrades to track it properly. Really think they should rebadge some Bilstein type coilover technology and offer as factory option for people that are going to track this car.

Really enjoyed seeing all the underbody bracing. A step up from the F8X which itself was a step up from the E9X.
I'm also not surprised the engine bay brace is not CF. I expect it will be in the CS/GTS versions. I think the days of getting extra goodies from BMW are over, now people will have to pay for them. As they should, given the overall love for other brands that are much more expensive than the M3.

I don't see why they would spend the extra money to include a new CF strut brace just for some limited models. If anything, they would've done it across the range to spread the costs.

Agree I specifically remember some measurements of Nm/mom flex that was crazy high on the last gen. I'm sure this I higher by just not providing the details yet it seems.

The default set up for suspension mode is comfort instead of sport, is that mean you have to manual adjust every time you start the car?
