He guys,

Little while ago BMW Canada gave us a pre-production M3 and M4 to showcase. I made some walk around videos of them.

Enjoy.

Cold start sounds the same. Interested to see how much the car "burbles" compared to the F8x.

For me, the more the better.

Right, me too. And curious to see if the comp burbles more than base model like the f8x.

At least prior to them neutering it via software update like they did with the F9x cars

it shouldn't....that would be cruel. "hey kid, wanna manual? Ok, well here's less horsepower AND good luck getting laid without the burbles."

In short, starting with 11/2020.36 they eliminated any pops and bags unless you're in sport plus, and added a rev limiter at 4800 RPM in park and neutral. Part of the EU regulations that carried over to us.

I'd think you're okay with a 6MT driving in sport plus at least.

Happened for both M5 and M8 users, and it looks like the G20 was affected to, so I would assume the G8x would be:

Same here, sort of nice to have the option to go around a bit more stealth-like in comfort too. I never did so in the F80 because it felt like it held back a bit too much.

There are some people that reported it was reduced in sport+ as well, but others refuted that, so it might not be the case. My car had the update prior to delivery, so I don't really have a good personal reference point to confirm.

I would say there is a chance that what people heard in the G8x last year might not be what they here when they actually get their car delivered, but if you don't have a concrete reference point like me and could only go off videos and such, then it's not as infuriating as it is for some that went in for an oil change and came out with what seems like a different car.

Sorry but car salesman need to just post videos with no commentary, the moment they open their mouth the charade becomes apparent. You own an E36 & work for BMW but don't know what the Hofmeister kink is....hmmmm.

Constructed criticism is not hate. There's no Hof kink on the car.

Unless you're talking about a distorted one which really is just marketing trying to relate to the heritage. A distorted kink is no longer the Hof kink.

As far as i understand, every BMW has the Hofmeister kink. Literally my BMW production bulletins talk about it. There is a difference between constructive criticism and the hate that i read.

To each, their definite own. I find factory induced burble overrun exceedingly annoying. The synthetic, endless brapppp on every downshift with all these new performance cars is too much. I hope it's a short lasting fad in the automotive world.

it's funny, i always thought of the burble tune as being a "safe" tune on a car that has a turbo to avoid detention. But if you did the tune properly so shouldn't have so much burbles. now people love it.

The M4 obviously has no Hofmeister kink. Yes the majority of the BMW range does but the new 4 series as you can clearly see does NOT. This just shows that you read something & are quoting it but have no actual idea what it is your talking about & to make it worse your now arguing about it & still don't know what it is.

So here you go I made it easy for you, do some research & learn what everyone else on this site already knows...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hofmeister_kink

Also If your going to get upset every time your wrong & someone corrects you, you should probably lay off the videos or your going to be upset an awful lot.
