I do like both, but prefer 2 doors, and there is one thing that I started to see on the M3, that I cannot unsee now..

The rear fenders (my M3 highlight) are very weird looking to me on the G80, its not flowing niceley, like not finished...

A specific M3 rear door would have fixed this and I was hoping this time they may build specific rear doors for the M3, instead of using the ones from the normal 3 series, but it is costly of course, but Audi showed that it can work out, like they did for the new RS6.
Never liked the marriage of the rear door and fender on the F80 and it's even worse on the G80.

On the E90 at least the rear door had more of a even curve to mimic the curve of the wheel arch. The F80 and even more so the G80 doors just slice right through it since the rear door is straight and not curved like the E90
Exactly, on the F80 it looks more intentional and fits much more, on the G80 it looks like they used the wrong door

The SPY will surely have a very low take up. Even more so it's Scuba Diving interior partner choice.

Bravo to BMW for offering, will certainly be unique to those that take it up.

For me it has to be SPY for the M4. If I'm spending that much on a performance car, I want to be noticed. The Portmao Blue is better looking in my opinion, but it's standard color available on a 420d Msport and in a few years they will be everywhere to be seen. (I see 4 X San Marino Blue M4 competitions on my way to work, every day. I hardly notice them, but a Austin Yellow I can spot from a mile up the road). Really the reason why you buy an M4 is too be seen, just be honest about it. Are you really going to use that performance - no. So go for SPY and be seen then. It's a bold choice and you will not regret. I used to have a E46 M3 in Phoenix yellow which was much admired and stood out a mile from the Blacks and Silvers. Isle of Man green is best left for the M3, but for the M4 SPY all day.

Some have been hypothesizing a 50% less take rate for SPY versus Austin yellow. Sounds right even though they are both great colors (just not colors I would want for myself).

I saw that feature in person and it is difficult to "unsee" as you said. Any chance this could be redeemed in the LCI ? Maybe "LCI doors"

Good point, but exterior upgrades of LCIs usually only cover some small bumper (front/rear) and light (front/rear) changes, no other things, as creating new doors with all the involved tooling and so on is very expensive for manufacturers, so I don't think this will happen for a LCI...

But who knows, there is always hope, but I would be extremely surprised if that would happen..

I disagree. Austin Yellow and Phoenix Yellow were amazing. SPY just looks out of place on a BMW. Maybe on a Porsche GT car...

I think when you see one in the flesh you might come around to SPY. In Twenty years is will be worth five grand more than the other colors.

I hope that the exterior color uptake on IoMG and Spy are high enough to make sure BMW continues to offer more colors moving forward

Same goes for the interior, I suppose.

looks great! I haven't seen PB in person yet, only on a standard 3 series. It reminds me a bit of a cross between Estoril Blue I and Estoral Blue II.

But that missaligned hood/bumper gap on the SPY...

Some misalignments are pretty common on pre-production models, they also display an X5 in the instrument panel These "bugs" will be solved in the final models.

I received my production number for my car last week, very excited of course Mine will be frozen black, carbon everything and fully loaded.

Ive been working with my dealer on an issue with the "full black merino leather" interior (M carbon buckets yes), I've been told that there is a strip of grey around the outside of the headrest that cannot be delivered in black. Ive seen and sent photographs showing the headrest surround in all black along to the dealer but since its not an option I'm told I cannot delete the grey. Anyone else had encountered the problem? Cant imaging you can't order all black interior?
Congrats on the new ride and welcome

If you check in the configurator, then they are indeed always in "two tone", so black has the grey stripe.

Most of the pictures that are around of the cars are prototype or pre-production models, so maybe that's why they were blacked out.

Otherwise the only thing I see, is to check if this is possible if you go with BMW individual...
Appreciate that, it took a little digging from my dealer but for anyone who might be ordering or wondering, it is possible to modify this (and the other inner areas of the backrest) I chose black Alcantara.
