do you think the extra weight and taller ride affected this?

Not sure exactly what they did but I have very little lag now from low RPMs like it was just a software fix. Still a tiny bit of lag but nothing like it was before.

I would doubt there is that big 0-60 and 5-60 gap now. No way from a street start it takes me 4.6 seconds as car and driver tested. But they also had a first 3 month production car (which is what mine is). My hopes are now High for the M3/M4
I do have an X3M (Comp). Would it be possible to DM or post what your service invoice says they did?

We're around 130/150 lbs above the previous generation of M4, get over it.
If you want the AWD you have to be aware that differentials and driveshafts add weight (around 150 lbs), but this applies to all cars, not only this one. Or maybe for some reason someone was expecting an AWD M4 of the same weight as the RWD?
The 4400 lbs M5 is still a long way off.
Well said!!

I placed my order more than 2 weeks ago and my dealer doesn't even have a quote until now...he said it will be the end of january until he knows more and that BMW got more orders than expected.

So much to: "what a ugly crap car nobody is going to buy it..."

I don't think so, it definitely felt like the drivetrain.

PB looks really good with the aggressive lines of the G8X...much better than the 330i I saw it on.

I think this might be my #1 color choice now...

Yes, I have ordered one. Certainly one of the first slots as delivery is scheduled for end of july.
I have never had a M car so I will have a test drive soon and can cancel my order if I don't like it.

Very nice and good for you! May if you could please look at these things... Thanks anyways and have fun!!

1) Could you look at the tire & wheel size / combination? Winter tires?

2) Is the initial M checkup already done (oil + gearbox service)? How many kilometers / miles has the car?

3) What is your impression from the traction and wheel spin compared to your current M2?

4) What is your general handling impression when making harder turns while driving straight and into corners, through and out of corners?

5) What is your impression about the power of the car while driving from 50-100 mph and from 0-60 mph?

6) What is your impression about the ZF8 gearbox compared to your experience from an actual M DKG gearbox?

7) Do you feel any engine lag when accelerating while in different scenarios? How is the general response from the engine?

8) How do you experience the added weight compared to your experience driving lesser weight M cars?

For sure only if you could, so feel free to cover any of these topics if possible... All cool!

Thanks again and greets from Germany!!

I know journalists can speak a lot of bs, but sources like Car & Driver generally know their shit and have vast experience with BMWs for decades. I trust their word over a forum member who's experience and bias is unknown.

I'm honestly over the front. It's the near 4000 lb curb weight which worries me. The car can still be a great performer, but I've never driven a 4000 lb car that felt tossable into corners or wanted to dance through traffic. I have a suspicion it will feel like the C63...more of a muscle car that can still handle well enough.
My 4110 lb F83 M4 has never bothered me, nor any of the reviewers online. Weight is undoubtedly important, but it isn't the be-all and end-all. Design and engineering need to be taken in a holistic context, not in a piecemeal fashion. I'd reserve my comments on how the car will drive/feel until actual reviews come out, and, most importantly, until I get to drive one myself.

Feel free to go crazy over the grille, you guys

Weight isn't the only variable here, it's not a fair comparison, and that's also my point.

As I said, weight is important, just that I don't get picking on weight alone and saying that the driving is going to be terribly inferior because of the weight.

I'll say that I'm not a track rat, so my opinion lacks that insight and perspective, but for spirited street driving and canyon runs, my porker M4 is still a great vehicle, in spite of many people casting aspersions on how it drives based on its weight without ever having driven it.

What do you mean by 120lb?

Using DIN weights:
F80 DCT: 3604
C63S AMG: 4011

So, I see 400lb. Where are you getting "120lb" from?

So on one hand people grossly overestimate the weight of the G8X and on the other they think the C63S is 300lb less than it is!

Can we stick to the real world please? There are enough actual issues with any generation M3 to be fabricating others out of thin air
