Not sure it even needs it. The S58 pushes almost 500 WHP stock meaning it’s making way more than 510 hp. It’s going to be a low to mid 11 second car and more than fast enough. My biggest concern is still how the weight, added size and wheelbase translates to handling. Straight line will not be an issue.

There's a thread started by ECUTek in the F8X section that says they've hit a wall with the new ECUs. To the point that benchflashing is also not possible.

Oh yes.
Not OBD2 flashing (IIRC) but they're pulling the ECU and bench flashing them. That's how you get those beautiful tuned power curves the S58 is showing off. Here's the thread discussing the ECU lock issue https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1760919 Here's a stage 1 dyno Stage 1 (91-93) vs Stock |

Yes but when I used the US G82 and F82 weight in this thread people pointed out that they don’t match the German increase. Using the US numbers the difference is 200 lbs to the F82 while using the European numbers the difference is 400 lbs. which is true? I don’t know.

I’m inclined to think it’s one or the other, not in between. Either a) the US number is not the US regulation weighed number but a translation of a German number or b) the German number is inflated vs the F82 due to loopholes or changes in EU regulations.

It's a good question solstice
I only use euro numbers because they have legal implications and that way I also avoid stupidities like the F8X weighing 3350lb. The euro rules may have changed so the ~350lb difference may be smaller in reality. I look forward to people weighing theirs. It would be really awesome if it were not much heavier in a spartan spec |

rewatched the carwow video and at 11:30 mark, Mat talked about 50-70mph time being 1 full second quicker than F8X, now that's a huge deal
I'm not sure what methodology that time is based off of, but I pulled up C&D tests for F82 ZCP and F82 CS, their 50-70 time are 2.9s and and 2.7s respectively... is this really gonna be 1s quicker than that still, that's Huracan Evo level in-gear shove

I highly doubt they would put a B48/B58 into the 2.0L and 3.0L versions of the current Supra, then go back for a S55....doesn't make any commercial or mechanical sense. Last edited by Avaley; 10-12-2020 at 10:28 PM.. |

Thats also going to be a gearing thing I think, the S55 + 7DCT setup will be between 2nd and 3rd gear at that speed while it is right near the top of 3rd with the 8AT
