He's not wrong tho... look at the carbon bucket seats in the Porsche gt3/gt4/gt2rs etc. available for the US market. BMW already makes perfomance seats with side impact airbags. Plus, these seats look very similar to the AMG performance seats and optional buckets in the Guilia QF. I'm thinking these will be available in the US as a $2500+ option.
I'm with you here either option for ~$2000-$3000... or not at all in USA

Well this is the first thing about the G80 that has made me truly excited after the back and forth on RWD and manual being available, and the likely new monster grill.

These seats look awesome! Hopefully they come to the States despite the Debbie Downers that say otherwise.

Wouldn’t it be cool if it was some form of passenger display which shows speed, revs etc?

Nice looking seats. Hopefully something similar makes it to production.

Hahahah! I guess new m3 requires passengers to hold on with two hands, so they put two "oh shit" handles 😆

We already got two rev counters in the virtual dash anyway so what's one more, right?

They are pretty similar to the Porsche 4way sport seats w/ cutouts that are standard in a 911. Most customers love them, but some want big heavy cushy 18way seats and can spec that if they want.
IMO - it is better to make the lighter sportier seats standard as most think they are plenty comfortable.

As JTO mentioned, you can see this is incorrect just by looking at the sensor hole. There is no body panel there, just the grill.

For the record, US-spec GT3/RS Porsches get a different "racing-style" seat than the ROW/Euro market are offered. This requires a lot more added cost and intricate integration of dual-stage, side impact air-bags into the door panels and side pillars. Which is not that far-fetched in a limited-production, 150k++ vehicle.

Maybe BMW might do the same and design two separate seats, panels, airbags, ect. for each markets but it's anyone's guess if they're actually willing to offset that added cost, in a mass-produced vehicle.

I'm not trying to be a party-pooper or take away anyone's hopes & dreams, just being realistic because that's usually how the world works.

One last consideration ...

Chances they're not at all an option or standard and this is more BMW M trolling? Just put in for the test drivers so they could have more fun on the ring? They've got our number lately ... just sayin.

Yeah, if I recall correctly the F80 was spied before launch with CF bucket seats that never became an option.

I'm confused why everyone assumes these are fixed carbon buckets. They look like two piece, reclining seats to me. The thigh bolsters look taller than what manufacturers usually put in US cars.

Posted this back in May when we kind of saw the outline of the seats. Think I was pretty damn close. Obviously these are newer and have holes cut out in a few places.

"I think the seats look less narrow than the AMG option seats. I went through the Recaro OEM section on their website and found them to look closer to some of the Audi special edition or option seats."

Hell yeah BMW finally getting with the times on seats lol. I thought the E9x and F8x seats were inferior to their competition (the E9x especially). Good to have the option now but I'm thinkin these aren't gonna be cheap...

That's great. Are you also saying that the seats pictured will basically be the production seats and that those seats are fixed buckets?
