Front wheel hub replacement info
Just discovered that discount tire fully stripped the threads for one of the lug bolts on the front right wheel hub when they put on new tires for me recently. Bastards.
Is replacing the wheel hub/bearing assembly a simple remove/replace? I think I identified the correct part numbers for the hub/bearing assembly (31108095643) and its attachment bolts (31206872920). I'm hoping to just be able to order the hub assembly and, looks like qty 4 of, the bolts and swap it out myself while also installing new pads. Just want to make sure that this isn't a press fit into the knuckle that would require any special tools. Or anything else that make this job difficult? Thanks. |

The challenging part on previous generation M cars was torquing the four bolts to spec. Might need a few different kinds of extensions, pivoting sockets, and some math to clear control arms and get the right torque.
Also should support the rest of the suspension on the knuckle so you don't stretch out any bushings in a way they were not meant to go.
