Well my G80 showed up and was able to get it Monday. Coming from a Porsche background (997’s, GT4, aircooled) this is quite a different car. But it’s exactly what I was looking for. I wanted something fun, manual and could have car seats in it eventually. The G80 checks all boxes.
I had a great close friend give me his contact at Laurel BMW and it was my lucky day. I called and asked how long for a buildable allocation, I was told they had one available. I placed my order that night and collected on Monday. I didn’t order anything crazy like I always see. Kind of when for a nice “classy” spec that will be driven year round in Chicago. I own an XPEL PPF shop, so now the slow pain of slowly wrapping my cars after hours until I can drive it. I know first world problems. Ordered 5/7 Collection 7/31 |

Great build, classy combo.
Coming from Porsche as well, selling my 997 Turbo S which due to life circumstances went from weekend toy to daily driver. The M3 will have big shoes to fill but I feel like the performance / practicality / price venn diagram is unmatched. |

Most importantly is how it’s deployed. This car is a very strong performer and has a ton of grip, even in RWD but especially in AWD. For a turbo mill it has pretty low lag too, at least from my test drives. I can’t wait to get some more seat time going from one 6 cylinder, twi turbo, AWD automatic German car with low 500 HP to another. It should be a really interesting comparison.

That's my favorite of all the silvers and grays offered by BMW. Great, classy color combo you have there, and yes, that along with an air cooled 911 is very nice. A 993 is still on my "list" of cars I'd like to own one day.
