Question g80 m3 or a 991.1 carrera s?

hello, my first time posting. I want to ask if i should get a g80 m3 or a 991.1 carrera s. I have so many options to pick but i brought it to these two options. I've tried the g80 and it was phenomenal. i want to know your thoughts of these two cars. which one should i get?

There are so many threads here on M3 vs 911. Just search or scroll down.

As someone who has owned both the models you are asking about, they are very different. The 911 must be revved out to make power, and has arguably the best dual clutch in the industry. The G80 is turbocharged with either a manual or a torque converter auto. It is much more practical and much quieter. It will also have much, much better tech. Early 991.1’s have first gen Porsche electric power steering and it isn’t good.

Largely agree, however, Porsche's 991.1 EPS is still way better than BMWs current EPS. When I drive mine it always catches me on how direct and natural it feels in comparison.

A far-superior 992.1 Carrera S is narrowly worth considering over a G80, much less a 991.1. I enjoyed the NA 991.1, but it’s quite clearly a last gen car, with last gen performance, last gen tech, and no factory warranty. You suffer all the 911 compromises for little to no tangible benefit.

On the plus side for 991.1, they are far down their depreciation curve, so if you buy right, you can try it for a little bit and “tick the box” for not much money.

Maybe you're right, it's been 4 years since I sold my 991.1. But I was never enamored with it. My least favorite part of the car.

There are definitely a lot of benefits to a 991.2 over the .1. The new steering wheels is much more modern. As is the infotainment. The chassis is notably more.....athletic. Car feels lighter and a bit more lively and nimble. And you can tune the ever loving crap out of the engine. It sounds quite decent for a turbo and likes to rev.

Having said that the 3.8 NA sounds, well, way better, especially with PSE or other exhaust. It's hard to overlook that aspect of a .1.

The good thing about the .2 is that the Carrera is in play, as it still has good shove and you can tune it. TBH, the .1 Carrera is pretty weedy. You need the S in the .1, IMO.

The 991.1 is pretty great, though it has improved for the 991.2 and the GT cars you'd never know it was electric.

Sure the 991.2 has a few more modern touches, but there's a reason why the 991.1 cars are holding value better than the 991.2s - the driving experience is still better unless you're looking for big power but even then the NA F6 is hard to beat. I have been offered MSRP (~150K) for my car many times despite me not having any intent to sell. I agree the 3.4 in the 991.1 really doesnt have a lot of grunt and the S was really an ideal motor. Add the X51 package or similar (exhaust and tune) and you can have a 430-450 hp NA car which is just an experience that no 991.2 or 992 can provide.

Both great cars. M3 is the better do-it-all car. The Porsche drives better (corners better, feels more planted, makes you feel secure when driving). The 991.1 engine sounds so much better, and you honestly don't need much more on any road.

I totally agree. For me, the 991 aesthetically, is probably the best we have had since the 993 (though the 997.2 is pretty close) but you certainly don't need more car for the road than a 991.1S - NA 400 hp and ~3200 or under depending on options is still about as ideal as you get for me.
