thank you for posting
For once, America gets the good M version that is denied to other countries! 6MT FTW! For sure I am getting a G80 6MT, the last manual new car that I'll own! |

How could I forget! Such an epic car. Two good friends have them and I have right of first refusal on both!

You guys enjoy your slow manual cars… I think this G82 manual was slower then F80… can’t wait for someone to do a drag race with these 2…. I just traded my G82 manual for an xdrive G80, no regrets! 😁😁😁

Nothing I can do, this gearbox just sucks and this driving experience is not worth anywhere near $100k for me… I still love the manual and I decided I will be getting a Subaru BRZ when it comes out or the Nissan 400Z to satisfy my manual cravings.

I had the most delightful trip around town (going no more than 35 mph) to get groceries yesterday. Same trip in automatic would have been joyless.

And you would be smoked by a tesla. There is always something faster and who really cares. Folks that buy manuals don't buy them to be the fastest model, they buy them because they enjoy the driving experience.

It is not the best gearbox but I enjoy rowing gears. I will add an SSK and UCP to get a more precise shifting and better clutch pedal engagement.

PS: It's also just more manly to drive a manual. |

there's gotta be some mid-ground between 'Autos/DCT's are faster' and the 'save the manatees' purists, no? |

Oh I hear what you are saying and I agree 100%…. but you can do thins kinda thing in any manual car… I used to live in Shanghai and drove a Chinese made 1.5 liter turbo car with a manual transmission and I loved just driving it around the city even though it was completely dead. From the M3 I expect a bit more for the price… that thing needs to twist necks and give you some adrenalin… getting smoked by a Tesla is not embarrassing but getting smoked by a Camaro is… an Xdrive M3 is a break neck low 10 sec car out of the box with a simple jb4 and manual or not you will have more fun with it!

Let me know. I don't modify transmissions because I lease BUT given the imminent death of manual transmissions I'm going to buy one (or two) to keep long term.

I just placed an order for an individual Enzian blue G80, and right now my order is for an xdrive Comp but I'm completely torn on which direction to go and probably have a month or so to decide if I want to change my order to a 6spd. I've always been a MT guy, but the performance delta between the 2 models is staggering now. On my F87 I went with the 6spd over DCT but that was only a couple tenths difference with no change in power; not a full second difference in the 0-60 and quarter mile. Is everyone with a 6spd still enjoying their cars? Is anyone regretting not going for the Competition xdrive? I should note that I also have a Tesla Model S P85D as a daily, and I understand that straight line acceleration isn't everything or else I wouldn't have the need for a fun car in my garage. |

These cars hit the legal limit so quickly on public streets that it's impossible to fully enjoy that extra power. The manual gives you just that little bit more of engagement to where each drive feels that much more special. Sure, there are times when the Comp would be preferable, but if you already have the Tesla, then I can't imagine those times occurring very often. |
