Dashboard rattle

600 miles on car. Seems to come from trim around the touch screen.

That's a pretty annoying rattle. Hopefully it gets resolved soon.

Sure its not the glovebox? I had a bad rattle there and fixed it by putting some felt around the inside lip.

Look up rattles in the G20 forums, same dash as ours but more data points.

Try pushing down the center speaker cover and see if the rattle goes away. Sometimes, rattle noise comes from loose speaker covers.

+1, push all around the damn car and see if you could isolate it, it could help keep down repeat trips to the dealer.

I had a rattle that I swore was coming from the my glovebox, I tried all kinds of things with a passenger before we realized it was were the mirror assembly met the headliner. It ended up being a broken clip within the cover for the rearview mirror surround, the dealer left off the surround while we waited a good 2 weeks for the replacement to come in, but the sound was gone and I was back to a quiet cabin.

Me too. Sounds somewhat metallic--cheap metal, not structural.

I had something similar in my M8, though a little less pronounced. Always bugged the hell out of, especially considering the price of that car.

Somewhere in the middle from left of glovebox to right of screen. Hard to pin down--centerstack up to mid-dash.

Reviving this thread as I have a similar rattle. Did you ever find/resolve the problem?

I couldn't play the videos for some reason (might be blocked by work firewall).

I will say that my first G82 had a pretty gnarly rattle in the dash that settled-down and went away on its own after a few thousand miles. Self-healing cars.

I had a horrible rattle in my F87 OG M2 which I tracked down to an aftermarket radar detector installation that had part of the product rubbing against the dash support. A couple of zip-ties fixed that.

My back trunk area has been awful. Put some foam in different places. Also where the infotainment buttons are (nav, menu) etc in center console were rattling, had to put a tiny bit of foam there too. It is rediculous

I had a rattle similar to this that went away when you pushed the silver trim under the screen / around the buttons.

It was present until the car warmed up then would go. It’s now completely gone anyway without needing to take it in for looking at etc

I had this issue. Bring it to the dealer and describe it, show them this fix. They'll pull it off and put some insulation behind it. Fixed the issue for me.

Same issue here. Buzz/rattle sounds like it’s coming from the center of the dash. Driving me crazy. Tried locating with someone else helping but to no avail. I’ll try the above hack. Mine will be going in for the 1200 mile service soon.

I had the same thing. The dealer put felt tape behind the screen and it cured the problem.
