First long drive with G83
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com This was my first long drive with my car since I got it in April. The Active Driving Assistant Pro is life changing. The 6 hour car ride was easy as I was able to use this adaptive cruise control for the first time. It's very cool if you haven't used it. There are two different settings (which I am trying to learn about). Does anyone know what they mean? Oh, I also got 30 mpg for the trip in efficient mode. In stark contrast, when I turn everything up in Sport Plus, I got a grand total of 1.5 MPG when I floored it! |

What type of seats do you have, and were they comfortable on your long drive? Were you in "Comfort" mode for your suspension setting? How smooth was the ride?
Any other features/options on your car you'd like to comment on?

Everything else is pretty traditional for my G82. BSM paint, laser headlights (which look awesome), carbon interior, executive package, ventilated seats (which are just ok) and neck warmer. The car is amazingly cool and is the only convertible I have seen on the road so far. |

I've been on a shorter road trip (250 miles roundtrip) and I found the standard seats to be the most comfortable car seats I've ever sat in. They're super supportive and comfortable. I really love them.
As far as the two settings for adaptive cruise control, I think the first setting just adjusts the speed of your car based on the car in front of you. The second setting is "Assisted Driving" which will also steer the car for you as long as your hands are lightly on the steering wheel. The car will also self-drive for an extremely short period of time if you take your hands off the wheel. Maybe 30 seconds. My car is also a convertible. And with the top up, you can't tell that you're in a convertible at all based on the noise levels. Sounds just like being in a solid-top coupe. |

Great info from you, lovely gas mpg ratings @ 30
I took a long road trip yesterday as well (about 9 hours) and am wondering how the buckets would have felt vs the standard seats

Its funny seeing this post today as I am going to take my first long trip in my G83 tomorrow from Northern VA to FT Lauderdale, FL. I have the bucket seats though so lets see how I feel tomorrow evening when I get there.

Quick update. I'm 8 hours in my drive and but butt is sore lol. I was fine for the first 5 hours until it started feeling sore. The soreness now is bareable and I can handle it but I would take long road trips again in these seats.
I wonder if I would feel better if I was driving. My wife is currently driving as I'm working remotely with my laptop on my lap. I will take over shortly and hope I feel better once I get out and strench. |

When it's on you basically only need to keep a finger on the wheel and as long as you're going straight on a road it'll stay in the lane with ACC. It'll stay (somewhat) centered in the lane. If you let go of the wheel, it'll yell at you and flash yellow on your steering wheel until you touch the wheel again. This will also happen if it gets confused because of weird lane markers or construction, in which case it is asking for manual input from the driver. With it on, the car can automatically change lanes if you bump your blinker and hold it for a couple of ticks. Be warned, it's a quick maneuver, no easing into the next lane... it just shoots into the next lane (not unsafely though). It's not self-driving by any stretch, but it does a good job on the highway. |
