Allocations and discounts
I’ve been kicking around ordering an G80 manual, but have been turned off by dealers telling me 12-18 month delivery times or promising me I’d be “next in line” and give them a $2500 non refundable deposit.
It seems the past few weeks more allocations seem available. I’ve had a couple dealers say they had an August allocation. Does this sound right? One dealer had an allocation, but I had to buy $1000 or add on’s and getting a 1% base rate mark up. Also, anyone seeing dealers getting to the point of some discount off MSRP and not marking up the base rate?

I don;t have a crystal ball to tell if this is the new norm or under msrp will come back...but personally, if you are not needing the car like right now, wait till the end of 2024...the market might get better and rates might be lower...just my 2cents here |

Everyone learned the lesson that these cars are getting more expensive every year. If you want to spec your own car find a dealer that has an allocation at MSRP and put your deposit down. You can negotiate the other stuff, just need to ask for it. If there is a used or new one on the lot, negotiate and buy on the last day of the month to get them to the price you are comfortable with.

When I put my order in for an M3 I locked in MSRP, Loyalty, and my Corp discount. So i am getting the car for $2k under MSRP. I also refused to put any money down and they agreed. If you let them run a credit app and lock in the rates that is more than enough to show you are serious. I have never put a deposit down to order a car. I am not giving a dealership an interest free loan. I wouldn't work with the dealer you are talking about. Go somewhere else. What they are telling you about the deposit being non-fundable and the 1000 dollar and on and the rate hike........absolute crap. I also ordered a Manual M3. I ordered it in November 22 and should get it in September/October. The wait sucks no doubt about that. I will tell you that a BMW dealership that sells more M cars gets more allocations than one that doesn't so the wait time is less. BMW already announced that the current M3 and M2 will be the last manual transmissions they produce. These cars will hold their value and become collectable. I intend to keep this car forever as it is the last chance I will have in buying a brand new manual car (other than a 911) and who knows how long that will last. I say do it...….Once you have it you will be happy. Come on the forums look what everyone has to say, talk about it, it makes it easier....at least it did for me. Just my two cents. |

Dealers may say that a deposit is not refundable but rarely can that legally keep the deposit. Mostly they want to ensure, in this market where so many people get on lists a multiple dealerships, the buyer is serious. As others have stated, some dealerships have allocations available pretty quickly. Other dealerships may take much longer. I was offered a 2023 build in about five weeks after my initial conversation. Just takes some leg work - or use a broker. I ended up with a slightly used manual that I’m picking up tomorrow. |

I just ordered mine last week. I got 2k off of MSRP plus $1500 loyalty. This is the 5th car I have gotten from this dealer though. They gave me 7k off of my 21 M4 last time. I went to one other dealer, just to shop around and they offered me $3500 off MSRP plus loyalty but they didn't get back to me soon enough letting me know if they could get an allocation so I got nervous and went with the other dealer, who 100% has the allocation. I wouldn't pay MSRP for one. There are deals out there

I think ADM is more dealer vs market based
In my same market one dealer asked for 5k markup, others said 12 months waitlist, and 2-3 put me first on their waitlists. I got an allocation inside a month from a dealer that sells more Ms, despite being 2nd on their list. No discount on M3. But discounts are available on M4s |

Look at Edmunds incentives.. Your always able to get something if your eligible. Just have to make sure it's a true discount with no hidden fees or marked up MF. Some will offer 2500 off but make it up on the back end.

Current realistic deals for custom 2024 G80 M3 Comp xDrive
Shopping around for a custom build order and at most getting MSRP + 500 off. Located in California. Given 2025 allocations are soon to start, do you think I should shop around more for a bigger discount on 2024 model year or just send the above offer? Thanks!

I haven’t kept up with the market latelty, but I would expect you should be able to get than 4% off on an M4. California may be different. I would do a big search for any M4’s that may be sitting on a dealer lot.
