There's so....so many threads on this already...everyone's opinions are different and you should find them IRL to listen to, no video or opinion is going to do it justice.

Depends on what you are looking for
I like a deep midrange tone that's aggressive on high RPM but without rasp. To me, the best daily driver exhaust is the one that offers the cleanest sound. If you want that, you want an exhaust with a single midpipe, preferably resonated. Active Autowerke, Valvetronic, and MAD offer that type of catback.

The type of downpipes you have will drastically change the sound of a catback good or bad so whatever you choose it needs to taken into consideration.

My option right now is stainless steel valvatronic full exaust system. I'm not sure if it's the best option because videos are really hard to judge what exausts sound best. Same exaust will should different in different videos. |

I was set on getting stainless Valvatronic system. Then I heard the Active Autowerk system and was sold. Check out their full set up on youtube. I also did a review in a previous post.

I have had setups with X-pipe, Single, Equal length and the AWE which keeps stock mid. They all sound completely different.

It is literally fiscally more responsible to fly around and/or travel around to various different G80's and hear how they sound in person vs trying one out and not liking it, selling it at a loss, then hoping the next one sounds better.
What sounds good to me will not to you, and vice versa. It's best to hear exhausts in person and in cabin while you're in person to make up your mind. I've yet to come across a single person that doesn't gush over the sound of my single turbo G80, so that's always a safe bet

Agreed. Different materials, designs and additional components will all change the sound drastically.

BMW inline 6 trademark, embrace it right? My S58 is straight pipe from turbo to OEM titanium via single mid and valve controller that only opens at 70%+ throttle or above 5k. Normal driving is about stock, WOT releases a quintet of chainsaws. I'll take the 55lb weight reduction and fully unrestricted flow over sound vanity any day.

Check out my POV videos for more footage of how the exhaust sounds. What I wrote above is my ideal setup, which will sound even better than what I have now.
The setup is as follows: MAD single midpipe non resonated MAD fatboy catless downpipes MAD engine bay intakes SST valve controller Big Daddies Garage mini cats to prevent the check engine light Custom xHP tune for that sauce on shifting https://youtu.be/q2qm6sOaF3Q?si=hVUbhw9LTiDQ1lrz |
