BMW problems...
I'll make this brief, 3 months ago I upgraded to DDM 6000K D1S bulbs, last week one went out and replaced it with my OEM bulb and left the back cover off since its kind of a PITA to get off for the average Joe w/o a lift. Since DDM requires you send both bulbs back for warranty I replaced the other bulb with OEM and a day later when it was raining water got in and shorted the adaptive headlights and now I am getting the malfunctioning light...

At best your adaptive module is blown. At worst your whole headlight/ ballast/ adaptive module.
Expect to pony up a few hundred to a couple thousand, depending on what the water hosed, at a dealer. You can also get parts on eBay or a junkyard and try to find a local Indy shop to do the work. I would never DIY or do any sort of non OEM work on xenon / adaptive headlights on my E92, except for a full OSS conversion done by a knowledgeable Indy shop ( in my case AKMotorwerk in Hillsborough NJ, excellent guys), or have the bulbs swapped by same said indy shop, ESPECIALLY on one of the most expensive areas of the car, for just this reason. Good luck. |

Ah yes, it could also be the fuse. That would be the best case scenario!
I hope it all works out for you man, because I have been there, little secret I'd figure I'd let you know |

After searchin a lil, (yes I know), its probably not the fuse since my other headlight works and I hope it will end up being the bulb but I also doubt that. It looks like the ballast could be it since this is a know issue of these cars

tell you the truth, had to dry up some water that got in the lights so I decided to put them in the oven on low since I've done this on some of my prior cars before and one of the lenses warped a little bit. Really sux since all it looked like I needed was a ballast

Well I got lucky and snapped up a set of OEM heads from a forum member who got t boned and totaled- I was fortunate. Ebay could be a hit or miss. You could also try posting a WTB entry in the private for sale section. Man that sucks..
