New stop sale - smart opener

Not a G8x, but posting here in case it affects more models:

My CA just called to let me know that a stop sale labeled “smart opener” has been issued for my M440i xDrive Coupe (produced between May 3rd and May 5th).

My G80 was produced between those dates but thankfully the stop sale check tool shows no stop sales. Also the smart opener looks to be the power tailgate for the trunk which I did not spec

I didn’t spec the power tailgate either. It’s likely the Comfort Access Smart Opener that allows the tailgate to be opened with a kick.

My i4 M50 has the same stop sale (produced 5/4). Have you heard of any updates on the status of yours?

No – I was just at the dealership today, and no updates!

No idea my M4 with CASO had the kick feature. Guess I didn't read that manual as well as I told everyone, ha. Thanks!

I don't think any G8x cars have that kick feature, at least not up through fall 2021 production of 2022 model year cars. I have the Executive Package (with the power tailgate, that I didn't really want, but it was the only way to get HUD and heated steering wheel) ... and it was HILARIOUS watching my actually-very-knowledgeable salesman at delivery waving his foot under the rear bumper and growing more and more frustrated as the trunk wasn't opening

Side note - if the power opening trunk breaks, can the trunk be forced open and closed until the car can get to a dealer, parts, install etc. - without damaging anything?

Any chance your dealer can send the screenshot of the description so I can update the tool?

Now I'm laughing cuz I spent a lot of time today trying to foot gesture my M4CX. Of course in the privacy of my garage and at parent's farm where no one but the animals saw. Good to know, thanks!

Oh I didn't notice that g82 doesn't feature that. My old F32 428 has it and works every time. I really like this feature but of course being without it won't be a problem to me.
