Cancelling New G87 M2 Order, For M4 xDrive
I placed my order for a G87 M2 mid-November '22, the first one taken at my chosen BMW dealership and I even got a c3% discount off MSRP - thought that was a good result.
I was initally advised May delivery, but took that with a pinch of salt. I'm now being advised it's pushed out to late August or early September. Then the M2 press reviews came out, they didn't exactly blow me away. A lot of the UK press also commented that the firm ride on UK roads may be a further negative. I got a PCP quote for a new M4 xDrive; with just another £1k deposit, it's the exact same cost monthly as the M2. BMW Finance pricing is cheaper on the M3/M4, as opposed to the c10% APR on the new M2. I'm starting to think it's a no-brainer to cancel the M2 order a place an order for the M4 xDrive, especially now that it also has the updated infotainment. Any M4 xDrive owners on here to give an opinion on using as a daily driver? |

M4 MxDrive is very easy to live with day-to-day. Ride is firm, but not unpleasant (well, I don't think so). Can't comment on the M2 in comparison, but I would go M4 everyday and twice on a Sunday over an M2. Especially with those costs!

Don't know why you wouldn't choose an M4 over an M2.

EDIT: had a browse through the AutoCar review of the M2 this evening. Interesting comment: "Rather than a stand-alone M car, the M2 really does now seem like the entry point to the M4 range." Hmmm, wouldn't you rather just have an M4?!

Unless your paying less theres no real good reason to go M2 instead of M4. That's the whole point of the model, a lower point of entry into M car ownership at the cost of space and a bumpier ride.

I have the M4 xdrive and have driven the new M2.
The ride in the M2 isn't horrific if you're used to sports cars to be fair, but the M4 trumps it in almost every area for me. |

There might still be some good deals to be had on M4 xdrive, or at-least was up to end of March at around mid £70k's. That would include a lot bigger spec that's even available on the new M2 (i.e. laser lights etc.) OK probably idrive 7 old stock being sold off, if that's what you prefer as I do over that awful looking idrive 8 screen (clearly done to reduce costs to get rid of physical buttons etc.)
So compare that to a fully specced M2 2WD at circa £72k. Took delivery of mine a week ago. |

Thanks KJC, i've since pretty much made up my mind that i'll be cancelling tomorrow when the dealership re-opens - the long Easter weekend came at a good time for thought.
How you finding the M4? |

Really like the car, can be driven as a comfortable and quiet cruiser or whatever you want with all the settings totally different to my old M2C. |
