Featured on BIMMERPOST.com This thing is way to quiet. It's making me miss the sound of the s55. Update: I pulled both resonators(incredibly light) and had an xpipe put in place and damn... The sound is 100% how it should have come from factory. Super smooth, throaty, and has a nice ascending pitch as you move through the RPM's. It's not loud but adds volume to the entire rev range giving you some much needed sports car sound. I paid 200$ Here's a few videos my woman took for me.. I'll get a better comprehensive set of videos soon. The video's with the standing revs should have just been 1 but it cutout for the majority of the midrange. Notice 0 rasp at top end. Also the footage is dramatically better with headphones https://youtube.com/shorts/RSS839HpbnQ?feature=share https://youtube.com/shorts/Q8QxKT7GcZA?feature=share https://youtube.com/shorts/JpqEJpkXr1E?feature=share https://youtube.com/shorts/pngaygILHkk?feature=share https://youtube.com/shorts/0Zy65tl54vw?feature=share |

But if I can just go down to a exhaust shop and have them cut out the secondary's and the resonator so it's just straight through pipes and get a good sound.. I'd do that for sure.. It seems like I may have to be the guy to take one for the team and see how it sounds myself. |

hopefully bmw set us up for success with just some deletes. I'll get some nice underside shots for everyone too once we get it on the lift. |

If you like the general tone of the exhaust and just want more volume, then this should work and be fairly cheap

In addition to my reply above, it's probably helpful if I gave some context. My reference point will be S55 and F8X as that's what I have but it's likely very similar for S58 & G8X. On S55, deleting the secondary cats and resonators does make a pretty noticeable volume difference. One thing that you may not consider when you do this, though, is the way that the valves operate. For example, the valve isn't open ALL the time on sport & sport+; there are certain conditions that the valve will be closed (such as low revs in a high gear) in order to reduce drone. If you do a secondary cat / resonator delete, you may find that when driving even in sport/sport+ that it doesn't sound as loud until you hit higher RPMs - many don't realize this is due to the valves being closed. The solution is to either unplug the valves when open or use a valve controller to force them open all the time - there is a big downside though to the valves being open all the time (especially w/o the secondary cats & resonator) in that it drones like a MF if you're just cruising between 1.5-3k RPMs. The best solution is having a valve controller once they're released for the platform so you can have the valves open when you want the thunder and close them up when you're just trying to cruise.
Again this is all based on my experience with S55 & F8X, however, I do not imagine that the outcomes will be much different, if at all, with S58 & G8X

Can you tell if those are H-pipe resonators by looking inside?

Oh interesting, the second resonator must be an H pipe then. I'm interested to see how your car sounds with the first removed
