Cooling Product Question

Hello, the G80 M3 is my first BMW M car. I am coming from VM MK7 Golf R Stage 2 platform. With that car, an upgraded intercooler was part of the build. With the G80 platform, is it correct that what was upgraded as intercooler on the Golf R is similar to the Performance Charge Air Cooler Manifold mod that runs between $3k-$6k? I am seeing performance radiators, oil coolers, heat exchangers, etc. marketed for the G80 that weren't really marketed for the Golf R. It was primarily just that you got the intercooler. I wasn't sure if these mods (radiators, oil coolers, heat exchangers) made a significant difference as there isn't any data associated with them. Thanks for any insight.

The Golf utilized an air-to-air intercooler system, which required an upgrade to a larger, denser core for better efficiency.

The G8x uses a water cooling system that is efficient and doesn't require immediate upgrades unless you add significant power to your car.

My advice would be to begin with a tuner and basic bolt-ons. You can then consider upgrading the cooling system when adding around 100 to 200 whp over the stock output.

Thank you for explaining. I have RaceChip, air intake, downpipes, catback, and charge pipes. I am not getting an ECU tune so that's why I was wondering if any of the cooling upgrades made a difference.

Could be useful depending on how hard you push the car, but I'd probably wait until after you upgrade your turbos.
