Front brake job: mounting nuts renew necessary?
I am planning to replace my front pads, which requires taking off the calipers. I can guess in the BMW manual it definitely says renew the hardware if any bolts/nuts are taken off.
G8x uses nuts to clamp the caliper onto the studs from the hub assembly. Do I have to renew these nuts? I'll be tracking the cars and I plan to put on track pads and take them off for regular pads after each events. Replacing them everytime sounds a bit overkill. And is this the correct part?: https://www.bimmerworld.com/Brakes/C...112284399.html |

I reused mine, bmw tells you to replace every single nut in the service manual

I replaced mine to be on the safe side. Ordered from turner Motorsport so I got the lifetime replacement which I could use to replace them next time I need pads.
I would assume if you are regularly changing pads for track days you can get away without changing them every time since that would be both expensive and probably unnecessary since you will torque them down and if the concern is them backing out they won’t be on long enough to be a problem. That is just my guess though. |
