Swapping out Steering Wheel
I understand there are a number of videos on how to change the steering wheel, however I’d like to get any feedback from anyone who has done it on the difficulty level.
Is it a simple plug and play from a wiring standpoint? What areas were most difficult, what took the longest? I’m good with doing my own mods from a mechanical aspect but when it comes to anything that has wiring, it causes my to pause and make sure I’m comfortable doing it. I have heat and vibration. No drivers assist. Appreciate i! |

I am not mechanically inclined and I was able to swap my wheel in about an hour. I used this DIY and left my feedback in this post.
There's nothing to wire, it's just plugging cables in. What wheel are you installing? Charles

It is not really difficult once you know what to take out from the old wheel and set them in the new wheel. All is plug and play.
The tricky part (if it is your first time) is to fiddle in the holes to unclip the springs to take the airbag out. And removing the wheel bolt is quite challenge if you dont have the right tool. |

I would try to find a torx driver bit, not a screwdriver, to release the airbag clips. If done with a screwdriver, it's easy for the tip to slide past the release spring and travel further into the center of the steering wheel. You need something with a more blunt tip. In the end, I did it with a flathead screwdriver that had a narrow tip, turned perpendicular to the spring wire. It's a bit of a fuss. |
