Slight pull to left when accelerating?
As the title says I’ve started noticing a slight pull to left when really punching down on the gas. I do have a RWD comp. Anyone experience the same thing? If so, how did you go about fixing it?

Are your tire pressures the same? Does this happen all the time? What about under less acceleration? |

Gecko,
Take a look at this thread that I started the other week - I had a similar concern and am wondering if we’re experiencing the same issue and just describing it differently: https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2149980 |

I have a 21 rwd and have the same thing. I am lowered though and going to get a alignment and see if that helps.

Not unusual with high powered RWD cars. Was really noticeable before nanny equipped cars.
Had a modified StingRay RWD that hooked on hard launches. Used to gain a little red light insurance by staging with as much angle as the started would let me get away with. The hook then pointed me straight down the track. Imagine you can see if the top of the line RWD CSL has a different alignment or software spec

I could see the slight pull being confused for that lightness. Will test this theory on the next drive. It is fairly light pull. Nothing really concerning for me, but just something I noticed and wanted to figure out if it is normal or not. I would also say it happens under similar circumstances fine if I punch it in first usually notice it in either 2nd or3rd as well.

Honestly if I bought anything else it would probably be something like a used m5comp or r8 but trying not to let my intrusive thoughts win…

I felt the pull to the left a few times in my G80 when I floor it but didn't think much of it because I also felt it in my Alfa 4C. Both are RWD with strong turbos so when the turbo kicks in the high torque may pull the lightened front to the left. Once in my 4C it was so strong in the first gear that the front literally jumped a bit to the left - the car is very light.
I am surprised though that when I google it most people talk about tire pressure and alignment, and only a couple (here) mention the high torque. Perhaps the drag strip hot rods have a better differential, too? Last edited by radm; 12-05-2024 at 08:21 PM.. |

On a stock G8x it shouldn't do this unless something is out of adjustment. Add power and the next culprit is deflection of the rubber bushing in the rear toe link. Add more power (ie 650whp) and even with all monoballs in the rear I get a slight wander under wot in 3rd/4th from tire squirm or the eDiff doing it's thing.

Going in a totally straight line under hard braking and hard acceleration is rare. Each tire's traction is independent of the others. If one tire has slightly more or less, that will throw off the balance and overall torque acting on the car. On a wet road with xDrive if you floor it in a lower gear you can feel the car squirm as it digs in and re-apportions torque.
None the less, ask a dealer about it if it seems more than "normal". |
