Confusing M3 CarFax
Hi Everyone, I am looking at a used 2024 M3 offered by non-BMW dealer who bought the car directly from BMWNA. The car arrived from Germany with 1,292 miles. Car was built in May, but arrived in October. How can I find out whether those miles were on a test track or something else that might be damaging to the car? I was about to pull the trigger and buy it, but now i have second thoughts. Thanks for your help and guidance.

A low mileage US-spec car coming from Germany to the US, suggests that the car could be a military or diplomatic sales car? Another option would be as a US-spec press pool car. The latter may be likely as it would be somewhat odd for a low mileage car from the military community to be sold in Germany. That is not say that it could not happen, but the only low mileage, current model US-spec BMWs for sale in Germany were usually dealer demos in my 10 and a half years living there.
I purchased an E93 M3 and G83 M4 while stationed in Germany on two different assignments and brought both back to the US. As I recall, the CarFax shows nothing in their history until arriving in the US. The BMW dealer could "see" the services that were completed in Germany when scanning the key.

You ever watch any YouTube videos where the reviewer does a long power slide through the turns? They go through a set of tires in 40 miles? Yeah, those are press cars.

I think these two fuckers had a go with the car in question.
Edit and to the OP: is the car red? If so, it sold to the dealer at the Atlanta AA for 89k pre recon, pre fee, pre transport ...10/17/2024 jdubsbmw

Looks like they bought it and drove directly from the port to Fort Wayne. Doesn't look too fishy, though I would be a touch worried about how it was driven en route. And it seems to need the break-in service performed.

lol...yes, I have spent countless hours finding out as much information as I can, including posts on this forum. Responses have been very helpful and appreciated. I also called BMWNA who confirmed this was a military vehicle in Germany before being sent to the US.

I'm 95% positive this was military owned. When I was stationed in Italy, it wasn't uncommon for guys stationed there to buy cars off base and then import them back to the US. Theres a huuuge military presence in Germany.

Thanks for your post and thanks for your service. Now I just need to figure out a fair price. They want original MSRP of 95k even though it has 1300 miles. They say that’s what market value is and it’s tough to argue based on what I see online. Same price to order a new one, but I’m not the most patient person to wait for it. Thanks again

Thanks, I had not seen your edit so thanks for pointing it out and providing the information. Just curious, how do u know what they paid? I assumed they had paid less because it was used. We just agreed on 93k since all my local dealers have long waiting lists to get one ordered. The salesman Larry at Sweet Cars was the most helpful salesperson I’ve ever worked with. Hopefully the rest of the experience will go as well. Thanks to everyone for your posts and assistance.

As long as you like the car and the purchase experience, you are solid. I had an AR car (2022 X drive) and its a brilliant color.
