Decoding anti-dazzle (option 5AP)

I suspect this has been covered in detail (ad nauseum?) but my search has not turned up anything...

I paid BMW a thousand dollars for advanced-technology ICON headlights back in 2021. I've seen comments that various owners bought the lights because they look cool -- I bought them for function. The headlights on my '22 G80 M3 are good, but the adaptive feature looks to be awesome and I'd like to enable it. My two issues:
1) I don't have the tech skills for coding so would need to find some assistance. (This might be easier if I were located in a major metropolitan area rather than 1.5 hours south of Portland, Oregon.)
2) I worry that during a dealership service appointment, the enabled function would be detected and again decoded.

Comments? Thanks!

Can easily be remotely coded for you. The dealer will not detect anything but if your car is updated either by the dealer or by an OTA, you will typically need to recode the functionality.

Thanks! My (vague) impression is that remote coding requires a laptop and a special connector, neither of which I own. (I use a desktop computer.) Having made the initial investment in the lights, I suppose I could augment my current desktop with the minimum laptop/connector required...

Can you point me in the proper direction to learn more? TIA!

You will need an OBD to Ethernet cable which are around $20 on Amazon. If your desktop is a reasonable distance from the car you could potentially use it by extending the Ethernet part of the cable , but you’ll also need a 2nd network interface on the desktop. Otherwise, many people just borrow a laptop.

I used my personal desktop in my office after my work computer failed as the antivirus software did not like what was going on. Fortunately my garage is right out the door from the office!

work computers are a nightmare for remote coding. very unusual these days for people to have admin access on a corporate-issued laptop, in addition to all the crap that is installed on them.

i'm working on creating a remote client solution for apple silicon as most people seem to have a macbook as a personal laptop.
