BMW has already given us insight to next gen M3. We’ll get 2 version. One fully electric and one with an improved model of the S58.
Personally, I hope the ICE model gets a mild hybrid system like the new Carerra GTS. They would be able to keep the same reliability we get now out of the S58 but with added HP from the mild hybrid system. The car would be insanely quick and the engine just as reliable. So excited for the next gen M3.

Genuinely curious, why would anyone want a hybrid system, even in mild form? You will certainly have a weight penalty. These S58 cars can reliably boost for more without any hybrid trickery as shown by CSL and CS.

The impressions of the 992.2 Carrera GTS with the T hybrid system of electric motor to spin the turbo and electric motor in the transmission to add power have been pretty glowing. There is weight gain but relatively minor compared to m5 hybrid and the impressions seem to be it's like the last Carrera GTS with a turbo flat 6 but no turbo lag, instant, power, feels much faster than the last one. Just based off impressions it seems more like a performance increase based on f1 tech than anything related to emissions or efficientcy.

I suspect the M3 won't get anything like that, and it will be similar to the m5 and gain like 800 pounds.

The Hybrid model will gain the weight. In hoping the ICE model will be similar to the Porsche.

No, the M5 is a PHEV and it’s already been confirmed the M3 will be a mild-hybrid. Expect this to be closer to what’s already in the M340i setup with some minor tweaks.

Even the EV will be noticeably lighter than the M5. The M5 is a pig because it has the both v8 and the batteries. The M3 EV will be at least 500lbs lighter than the G90 M5.
