I spoke to my detail guy just now, he said IR lamp is not required, it's an extra step to speed up the curing process. It's equivalent to not driving your car for couple of days, which is not a big deal.

You know what, I goofed. I misread and thought you meant UV lamps (purple), not IR (heat). UV will screw up your eyes from direct and indirect exposure (reflections). UV light is used to cure resins all the time.
