I like cars and I enjoy reading car reviews. I reach my own conclusions, based on my personal preferences and use case, but reviews help inform things I may pay particular attention to during my test drives.

The universal anointing of the M2cs is a pretty good indicator of what a lot of automotive journalist gravitate to. That said, most of the G80 reviews I've read have been very good. Even those that have offered some criticism : Chris Harris, Matt Farrah, R&T, etc., have also remarked on several good points. The consensus at R&T is that the car is VERY capable, but not as fun as they had hoped - primarily due to the cars size. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone because the car is, in fact, large. And BMW suspects the majority of potential buyers want it that way (besides,it would be redundant to size the G80 @ M2 dimensions).

Based on everything I've read, the G80 sounds like an outstanding daily; I wouldn't get bent out of shape if a reviewer is disappointed with its weekend fun car chops. In fact, I doubt the G80 would be at the top of hardly anyone's weekend fun car/second car list. Those looking for a sporty daily, however, are definitely going to short list the G80.
