My understanding is that the port on the US side is the VDC, thus there's no additional "Transit" step to the VDC. Based on this article, it looks like the port and the vehicle distribution center are one and the same:

My car has been in Baltimore for just under a week ("At the Port") waiting for the RAM issue to be resolved also.
