I had a E46 M3 which I bought new and thought it was the greatest car ever. I decided to compliment the car with a mint <25k mile E30 M3 which I loved to look at but frankly where I think the saying " don't meet your hero's originated from" Slow, frustrating trying to find the power band while the shifter is doing its best impression of a mixer in your hand...did I mention it was great to look at?

Finally the value reached the point where a private collector offered me so much money I could not keep it as it just did nothing for me but it was great to look at. All the praise and nostalgia for that M3 mostly comes from people who never spent time driving/owning one.

The G80 M3 is the size of my E60 M5 but feels half the weight. BMW has done a great job with their voodoo magic. I have a 2012 Porsche Spyder when I need to feel a real sports car. The G80 M3 is just a great car but the best M3...E46.
