Are you all thinking of just keeping the same size? 275/35 19 ? That gives a sidewall of 3.8" ( as per online tire calculator)

Going to the 18" option that is standard on the US M3s, 275/40 18 gives you a sidewall of 4.3". However, there seems to be a lot less tire winter tire options for the 18"

I don't know if the 0.5" sidewall height increase for the 18" will make a difference on pot holes.

On my current winters ( 245/40 18) the sidewall is 3.8" and in two of the four years I have had them on I have had bent rims due to pot holes. Granted aftermarket rims may not be a strong as OEM's, or maybe I was just unlucky. Potholes in the Greater Toronto Area seem to be getting worse each year.
