I'm no fan of EVs... mainly because I find them boring and soulless. But the questions you're asking have been brought up many times before.

For your first question... it points back to the charging infrastructure challenges that are being addressed. At a high level, there's different workstreams... from battery technology evolving to allow for much faster charging, to swappable batteries, etc. But full EV integration is still at a minimum 15-20 years out.

To your second point, this was discussed recently. A stationary EV isn't just going to rapidly discharge in a matter of hours. I think there was at least one car in that recent storm on the Virginia highway which was an EV and it was completely fine. A bigger issue is ICE cars running out of gas much quicker as people have to keep their cars running to maintain heat.
