The extent of track prepping depends on your driving skill level and budget. Track pads and fresh Castrol SRF are enough to begin with and these aren’t costly. As you get faster, you’ll want dedicated track wheels, stickier tires, camber plates, suspension upgrades etc. I don’t think any of these are super expensive. Consumables like pads and tires are part of the game. The others are a one-time thing.

Stupid and irresponsible - It’s the driver that needs a mod/prep for this one, not the car, usually. If you drive like a hooligan on track (regardless of how much your car is prepped or not), you’ll be warned and then kicked out. Everyone takes safety very seriously.
